Hello everyone i got my copy of DC last night and it is incredibly awesome!! In my first game i wanted to check out the imperial gguard new unit against some necrons on standard. First of all i have to say i love the bigger unit size for guardsmen. gives them a much closer feel to the 40K fluff i feel. However despite facing an enemy on standard difficulty i got slowly hammered into the ground by the necrons. Fo r awhile i was giving them a run for their money but my lasguns just werent having a big enough effect on those warriors! and any plasma i had was quickly gunned down costingme a lot of req and power. I didn manage to get some karskin but even they had major trouble against basic necron units. And then i finally got the new IG unit ( cant rememebr what its name is) and i was very disappointed that it wa sso expensive and that some flaye dones simply tore my first one to shreds very quickly. Then i noticed that i couldnt target othe runits with it that the unit just started firing on one enemy and didnt stop until one of them was dead!! that is a major bug in my opinion. has anyone found any good tactics for fighting necrons with imps because i usually easily beat the comp on hard let alone standard!!

The problem is that the IG and Necrons, in my opinion are the most unbalanced races in the game the IG are too weak and the Necrons are too strong. The IG was down graded from winter assult, don't know why, cuz they can't have muiltipe kasiken and orge squad, limited to one each. The Necrons can have a shit load of squads and are crazy strong, once their monolith is up kiss you ass good bye. I believe the chaos and space marines are the best at handling the Necrons, but if your a die hard IG fan i suggest this: 4 to 5 squads of IGmen w/ the general and two sentials backed by the balisk and 2 heavy platoon squads (they are not as worthless as you think, just don't have them be the first to engage the enemy) Have the IGmen engage the enemy and then deploy the heavy weapons squad. This mix can handle just bout anything at the T1 and T2 level. Getting to T3 with the IG takes too long and you usually get pounded before you get there. As for the monolith, well you just have to throw everything you got at it, make the baneblade tank engage it first so that the Monolith will consintrat fire on it (its the only think the IG has that can withstand the pounding) and then use everything you got. Recommand Sentials cuz they do high damage to buildings and vehicles. Hope this helps

Have 2 heavy weapons squads, the flamer tank (forget the name) And 2 basilisks in the back. Works wonders against any infantry. And some IG squads at backup just incase. But once the monolith is ready you should have leman russ tanks and baneblade out by then.

But what makes up for the necrons strength is thier slowness, but the thing targeting one unit is normall, happens too me all the time with my monolith or night bringer

oy man crons are REALY REALY SLOW. slow to train ,slow to upgrade, You must hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can (rush them) otherwise their forces will build up an atomise u "FUCKIN BOOM"

Well, that was informative... Although I disagree, rushing necrons with imperial guard is suicide. Yeah with imp guard you pretty much have to hid behind turrets or in buildings, and use them to shield your men. Plasma is the only real effective thing for taking them out quick. You also have to give your heavy weapons platforms autocannons because they are good for taking out heavy infantry (warriors, flayed ones ect.) and light tanks (destoyers, tomb spiders ect.) I always build three basilisks, as their shots disorient your enemy, and ruin their morale (do necrons have any, I forget), and do massive damage. In my opinion though Imperial guard are not the race to use against Necrons. Building a baneblade(still only three pop compared to the leman at 5) and some hellhounds is helpful as well.

i was talkin about the general thing to do with crons, i know imp gaurd get killed bu crons but its a general tactic. rmrmbr their troops take ages to train so get the strongest thing u can in as fast as u can, prob comand squad and as many squads as u can
