howdy all , so heres the deal , after months of patience i finaly get another pc together so i went to play dc on a lan with my partner only to find out it dont work..they are both on the same version, the cable was in..so what gives...any ideas
check your firewall settings for a starter on both machines. what type of lan are you using? do you use a router/switch/hub or are you using a cross over cable? when you connected the computers did you run the network setup wizard? are your network interface cards enabled? can you access one machine from the other under windows?
wow , erm...ok..ill check wat u sed , im using a cable..no, i never ran a network setup wizard..did'nt no i had to cuz wen i linked desktop to my laptop awhile back it worked straight away... how do u iniciate the network setup wizard then , i think i only hasve to install it on one computer cuz one computer worked with the laptop
the network setup wizard can be found in the panel, just to be safe run it on both machines, it will ask you if you want to make a disc this is for use on win 9x machines if you have xp on both machines you wont need to make the disk as the wizard is on all xp machines.
uhuh.. is the problem you can't find a game that either one of you has created? If so, you're both not using the same patch
For LAN I would recommend using Hamachi. I'm not techie at all so can't help you with the installation but we use it for our LAN games all the time. My mate helped me set it up and he's like the Harry Potter of the computer world.
Don't use lan if you can help it. If you just want to play against your partner and AI then use the direct host and direct join options. They are faster and handier.
nope, ive installed the network setup bit but i dont see anything..i tried the direct host but i need and ip address...were do i get that from and can i do that without being conected to the net
