You're making a joke? Pathfinders are possibly one of the most lethal units in the entire arsenal of the Tau.

They would be incredibly strong even if they only had the markerlight. Which is a quick recharge ability that states that any unit under it's influence takes 75% more damage. This in conjunction with FW high damage kills any squad in moments, not to mention that it allows firewarriors to act as an ad hoc anti vehicle unit.

Then they have one of the largest stealthdetection radiuses in the game. Dwarfed only by scarbs unless I'm mistaken.

And they slow down units they hit.

Not to mention they supplant stealthsuits as scouts due to their enourmous sight range.

Basically keep in mind. If you want to have them for targeting. Have 3-5 unfilled squads. If you want them for slowing keep 2-3 full squads.

Amen to that. Put the pathfinders out front and let your Fire Warriors clean house from the back.

Why unfilled? I definitely agree with everything you said about their usefulness. I'm just wondering what the reason would be for leaving the squad at partial strength.

well what he means (I belive) is that he saying if you just want them for their marklight and you are in a standard game dont fully renforce them beacasue it save you money and you are only useing it for advatage so no need but if your ganna pull them way so they cant use thier sight and dectaction your playing dumb keep em thier thier other abiltieys dont cost ya nut tin mon just roll those crazy bugga's right up thier and let da music flow through ya ha haha

I need some anti-vehicle infantry.. If I field 3-5 units of Pathfinders I've not enough req for my couple of XV-88's. I usually play with 4 squads of Firewarriors in Kayoun-mode.. Maybe they are too much. I'll think about it: Pathfinders, as you portrait them, seem to be a good alternative to Vespid.

I always keep at least one squad in with my infantry, though I normally try to keep them behind the Fire Warriors since they don't have access to shield drones and can go down rather quickly if caught in the open.

But as everyone has rightfully stated, The visual range and marker ability arevery useful. Coupled with a Snare Trap from the Commander, the Marker helps crush a rushing melee Hero like the Force Commander or the Teleporting Mek, not to mention downright slaughter infantry..

hahah um... I think they are just used for their extended sight. And they slow down enemy squad advancement.
