The Leman Russes take up 5 slots each, and you can only have up to two of them. You can only have 3 basilisks. Not to mention you have to save room for the Baneblade. The IG is immensely formidable once you hit Tier 2, but in the later stages of the game, the IG are at a huge disadvantage. You no longer have superior numbers, because your pop cap is the same as that of a space marine, and you don't have superior firepower because space marines can get a landraider and two predators to match your baneblade and leman russes. And even with all the upgrades, the IG guardsman is no match for hordes of space marines and terminators bristling with heavy weapons. So if the game is still going by Tier 3, the IG's only hope is to build good defenses and hope the other side gets his army killed trying to break through, and you can counter attack before he rebuilds.

Uh, the IG just have to use a dynamic build plan like the rest of the races.

You sure are going to start with sentinels and hell hounds, which are probably the vehicles in their respective roles, not to mention the sentinel being the best decapper probably. and later, once they grow absolete you begin upgrading.

yeh i found the igs caps in general rather dissapointing mayb if they had a squad cap of 25 and a vechle cap of 23 that would be better it would allow for 2 lemand a bane blade and 3 bassies with mayb 2 chimeras and it would allow you to get all of the igs infantry units i dont know how many times ive ended up witha squad cap of 19/20 witch shits m because i dont wanna waste all thet req and power by deleteing a squad but i also want ogryns so its a damn error in the ig's cap :mad:

Almost as bad as the 19/20 vehicle cap the Chaos had before the 1.2 patch in DC, that pissed me off so much, it just sits there mocking how you can't filll it no matter how well you plan your vehicles:mad:

I agree, a cap of 4 for leman russes seems better to me, like that you can still get 3 basilisk and a baneblade

thats not true because 2 preds with maxed out las guns decimates armour and would take down 2 lemans rather quick and also you gotta think thats 1 dred will pwn 2 sents if they dont dance so letting IG have 2 lemans a BB and 3 bassies is quite reasonible

Normally I only use sentinels and a baneblade, massed sentinels rips armour to shreds!

Err, you're missing my point a bit. The Guard do just fine throughout most of the game, but if the battle isn't resolved quickly, the guard are doomed. If both sides are maxed out, the guard will succumb. Two preds and some dreadnoughts, supported by termies and space marines will quickly turn your army into mincemeat.

Yeah. BTW, do you remember how it was in winter assault? the space marines had no limits on termies! Though the guard didn't have limits on kassies and oggies, they're still no match. Since the guard is described as "billions strong, why are the guardsmen 14 or 13 a squad? They should be 22 like the people's mods. Even a 22 man guardsman squad can be beaten by a single marine squad, so why not? You can't even field all your superior armour. I know this makes the game unbalanced but as the guy said they "THE IG VEHICLE CAP IS KILLING ME!".:uhoh:
