Hi guys, first time post, long time DOW player

first of i have to agree that the table top game and the comp game are different, thats the nature of the medium. But where relic has suceeded is in maintaining the feel of warhammer universe.

I do fell the comp AI is way hard, I used to be able to defeat two insane opponents (Kastyleurn map) as SMs, but now i struggle against 1 hard comp.

I have been playin IG online, and just gettin owned, so if any tips they'd be much appreciated. It seems the whole IG strat is dependant on the baneblade, which is a little limited (particularly if you cant hold the critical relic pnt in early part of game) . Also limiting basilisk to 3 is a little rough i believe, but hey im an arty fan. very hard to play offensively with IG, I have found that IG squads (fully upgraded) just get raped against SMs and eldar? I like the IG ability to shutlle troops around through barracks ect. IG is a defensive army, so works well in big 8 player maps ect when working with others, but just get owned mono to mono

Why cant you place the chaplin in a squad like other heros?

As for the trminators, there are ways of takin em out which has already been mentioned above, my fav is to engage em with force commander and take em out from a distance with squads, vehicles ect

quicksart comps are bad, even 3 standard can own 3 players with QS whereas 4 players can defeat 4 insanes on standard ressources condition (as long as the players play together of course)

IG doesn't need the baneblade at all, like Chip said: add 'nades, comissars & priests to your troops + sentinels to pick off the ennemy tanks; that should repell the inital assault. Meanwhile don't forget to tech as fast as possible, it takes ages to use Leman Russ tanks so don't waste more time. Once I get the LRs i replace all my vehicles by these and usually replace my normal guardsmen by either Kasrkins or Ogryns (depending of the opponent: *hint* ogryns are excellent against termis *hint*). But LR's ain't an absolute need to win: chimerras & hellhounds as Anti infantry + sentinels as AT, combined with numerous infantry is an excellent way to... protect your basilisks. Pretty efficient on Kasyr Lutien, those basilisks and their earthshaker shell are the best base-openers i've ever seen, but they need to be protected from ennemy fire.

There's a lot of things to do with IG, but only if you get out of tier 1 as fast as possible.

ogyns are good at tieing up terminators but they will get raped. However 2 squads of kasrkin can run away and gun them down.
