So do you guys have it? Do you plan to buy it? Your thoughts on it? I have it, got it with Silver. I love it! HDR is nice, makes CSS look unfinished.

i bought it, never played reg DoD, but DoD Source owns. Love the graphics and the weapons. Whats really cool that the insignia on the american helmets are the 3rd Inf Division. My grandpa served in that same division during WW2. He fought in anzio and a number of italian cities. Back to the game, they need more maps.:smokin:

Indeed it's excellent in my opinion, of course after being spoilt for realism in FH and XWW2 I find DoD to be pretty unrealistic but it's hella fun and jam-packed with action. I've been playing DoD since some of the earliest releases and its pretty interesting to have seen it come this far.

My favourite things about DoD: Source are obviously HDR - I have it on full and some of the effects are amazing (Check out the beach on anzio and look at how the light 'reacts' with the stones). I also love the way MGs work now, although they are slightly too good. The Ironsights on the rifles aren't really useful at all and in my opinion are a hinderence which is pretty silly. Still overall, it seems great.

I'll start visiting this forum :P.

The iron sights are very annoying, FAR too big to do any good. Bazookas = nice, like the shoulder mount thing MGs = very nice, the placement areas are brilliant. If you think you can put it there, you probably can. SMGs = OK... MP40 has WAY too much recoil, and the thompson sounds seem to be ripped out of HL2 or something, honestly...

The gameplay atmosphere is great, I wasn't too impressed with the HDR as it got really samey after a while, I turned it off along with lowering some other settings, this game needs some optimizing - FAST TIME. There are peolpe on steampowered forums using 7800GTX with 2GB RAM who get 45FPS with all on high 1280x1024, no AA/ AF, HDR on.

in reality the german weapons had alot of recoil, not much research went into making it to have less recoil

Er not exactly. The MP 40 had relatively low recoil for an SMG due to it's smaller round (9mm) and shorter barrel length. The Thompson on the other hand fired a high powered .45 round which caused the gun to have notoriously bad recoil that was highly frustrating for its users at longer ranges.

looks good but i dont care for the game play, now if they could somehow take the gameplay from dod and blend it in with the looks of dods you would have one heck of a game (IMO)

@dirtmann. That sounds like maybe the same thing they should do with CSs. I played CS1.6 for the first time on the weekend and am appalled at the difference in gameplay between the two.

I haven't got DODs yet and never will. ATM i am royally pissed at valve for only including it with the silver and gold steam editions, and not the Collector Retail pack, which cost me a lot more than the silver would have.

Ahh yes! DoD:S is out!! And after 2 days, almost every Steam user around the world can't play it anymore.

Have you guys heard about this? 2 days after DoD:S was released, almost all Steam users said they couldn't play the game anymore. Because of a "Credit card declined" problem. I got the message that my CC was declined, there was nothing wrong with my CC!. I pre-ordered it, played for 2 days and it was sent back to the "Just Released" category instead of the "My Games" category.

Well, at least the CC wasn't charged. Now I have to purchase DoD:S again. This time, the price is $3 more.......
