Hello, Ive just installed BFV and gone to play it for the first time. It took me a minute or two to work out what was so odd about the game. I cant see anyone. You can see weapons and name id's floating around in space, but no people... ??? !! can anyone help me please? whats that all about then, anyone experienced similar? whats the fix? im dl'ing the latest graphics card driver at the moment, but dont think its that i have: 2.4 cpu 512ddrm ram 40GB drive 64 mb nvidia Geforce XP Home Thanks Mark
its a GeForce4 MX 420
and ive set everything to their lowest settings
Ok the GeForce 4 MX cards don't have support for the advanced Texture & Lighting effects the game uses. I'm afraid it's time for an upgrade. I'm not one to tell people to go upgrade thier computers when sometimes it could be something simple, but the trend here seems to be that those cards are not going to be good for the game at all.
is that it? the card is simply not up to the job, and this is how it is manifesting its lack of performance? i was thinking that time for an upgrade was due is the MX card range the 'budget' range then? This is what came as standard in the system. any quick recommendations for card brands/stats/performance to be looking for? i wouldnt mind one thats going to suffice for the next year or so thanks Mark
I would think that either a Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 Ultra or an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro will be just fine for most anything that will be coming out in the near future & anything you play now. I highlighted the Ultra & Pro because you don't want the dumbed down versions of those cards. Stay awy from anything with an SE at the end as those don't have many of the features you'll be needing to run these games. The biggest performance increase I've seen was by adding the extra 512megs of ram giving me 1.5 gigs. Not only with this game but with the performance of my puter in general. I use alot of paint programs & 3D rendering software & that's what I got all the memory for in the first place :naughty: , but it does seem to help alot with BF:V. Did the new drivers help any at all? I'm running the 56.64's.

radeon 9800xt 256mb would be good but its slightly expensive, if u cant afford that then get a mid range like a radeon 9600xt or a geforce FX 5700 ultra. im running on a geforce fx 5600 (not ultra) and i run it at 800x600 at medium with anti-aliasing at 4x and it runs very well ( its capable of being run with everything at full at 1024x768 but it lags to much online)
I have managed to solve this problem. If any1 else has a simialr problem this is what i did downld the DirectX9b End user runtime from microsoft website, to update your DirectX. I was under the impression the latest version of DX9 wason the game cd. downld the latest nvidia drivers from the microsoft website. this is picked up by scanning the computer for updates. I dl'ed the latest driver from the nvidia website first and i dont think this worked disabled the anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering boxes in the graphics card bit in settings/display properties (Start>Contol Panel>etc) it works on lowest graphics quality setting fine. no noticeable difference from bf42 play even in servers up to 40 players. I can see everyone again tho and play the game now:) I shall still upgrade my graphics card tho. Thanks all Mark
