PlumleyThat 1.7 can hold it's own still with just about anything being sold now (minus a higher running P4). Or so I'm told.
Don't believe everything you are told ;) :)
When I boug the FX5900 I was really considering an ATI but they were way out of my price range 3 months ago when I really needed an upgrade. 300 bucks vs. 200 for my 5900. Now that DX9 games are coming out tho I get kinda pissed off at how these games perform. Far Cry for instance sucks performance wise but still looks great! Painkiller played fine and this plays smooth until I walk up to a building or vehicle... or zoom then FPS goes to like 20-30s *from over 100* (which I don't understand....). I'll wait to see how the NV4x is, I will probably get one of those in a year or so... Im 16 and don't have a job so that means very little income :P Anyway... this card plays all my games for the most part perfectly but this DX9 crap is just stupid... how could nVidia screw up like that?
The new Geforce have some serious probs with new games
It's running great for me. I have tons of HD space, but I'm gonna look to up the P4 soon.....then install a larger HD. After that I suppose it'll be more RAM again :nodding: 1.5G of RAM will be required for optimum performance with the next Battlefield game anyways :p Might as well plan for the future ;)
P4 3.2Ghz 1GB Ram Radeon 9800 XT 256MB Audigy 2 250GB HD
I have all the graphics set to their highest value, running in 1124x968 (I think that's it. The one up from 1024x768) It runs smooth as glass
2.4 Ghz P4a 512mb PC2100 (icky) Radeon 9600xt (great value card) 128mb btw
Runs fairly smooth at 1182x960 or whatever that one is. Everything jacked up... 'cept lightmaps off (which doesn't change the look of anything for me). prolly 40-35 FPS
xp 2200 512 2100 ddr ram radeon 9500 pro sb live! 5.1 windows xp everything is on max except graphics, it's on high not very high. game runs awesome, the odd time it slows down a tad for a few seconds....don't overbuy!
A64 3000+ ATI R360 (9800 Pro 128MB) 1024MB, 400Mhz Windows XP SP1 2048Kb or so ADSL Those are the only parts that affect anything... Fine on medium... Secondary: P4 2.6/800Mhz 512MB 400Mhz GF2 Ultra 64Mb Windows XP SP1 Unplayable at any settings.
lol .... on your secondary system the GF card is the only thing holding you back... Upgrade and you'll have 2 decent machines... Neo needs more ram :(
