This always happened to me with '42, so I hope it helps...

It's your video card. '42 always crached for me because my card wasn't compatible.

It could be corrupt RAM. Run memtest...I had the same problem for months until I realized one of my RAM sticks was corrupt.

I have a brand new computer and had the same thing happen. I finished one map, then it quits to the desktop, no error messages or anything. Since it's a new computer (Dell XPS) I don't think it's the memory. My video card is a Radeon 9800 XT 256MB. I know they (Battlefield Vietnam) have info about NVidia all over, so maybe they just don't like Radeon cards...

No game ever likes Radeon cards. Companies always release some sort of Radeon patch a few weeks after the game is released. Anyhow Are you sure the server didn't crap out? I've had a few experiences where I was kicked to desktop and my friends (who are playing the same server w/ me and communicating thru TeamSpeak) have it happen to them at the exact same time. The only other time BFV kicked me to desktop with no warning was when my video drivers were a little screwy.

It's funny to see the posts after the infamous "Crashed to desktop help!" posts. One reply "it's your video card" second reply "It's your soundcard" Trurth is it could be anything, I do agree with Padre as far as server crashes. It's happened to me only once it was indeed a server crash, my bro and I were chatting while playing and we both got dumped to desktop at the same time. After we went back in the server was at 9999 and unavailable. So next time you crash check the server you were on. Also, do update all of your drivers, video, sound, MB, and even your monitor drivers. -DigitalDeath

I had odd crashes and whatnots and found lowering the audio rate fixed all the problems. Can't gurantee it'll work for you but won't hurt to try. :)

Its not the server crapping out, i would start it up again and look at the server and its still up, i would then and rejoiin and ask the guys and they would say nothing happened :uhm:

Hey guys i'm having crashes too on both my bros comp and mine.

9700 pro in mine 9800 pro in my bros... somtimes it'll crash... somtimes it'll freeze the comp :(. Seems to happen at random intervals... the memory ain't corrupt and i doubt its the sound but what would specifically recommend for sound? Reduce channels? Quality? Thanks - also tried driver versions 3.7 3.10 and 4.4 no luck on any of them.
