Sorry, this may be a short thread, but what is the Doom story really? Forget the very, very basic version of the: You're a Marine, you fight Hell, unleashed on the Phobos base (I think). Using the books as reference, along with the games, what is the story? I don't think I'm phrasing this question right...

The Phobos aspect is part of the original Doom story actually, not Doom 3.
*moved*
Whoops, so do the books really have any relevence with the story you think? Are they a "worthy" reference? I know that the Halo fans out there use the 3 Halo books for everything...

I myself have never laid hands on any of the Doom novels...:clueless:
There are some in my library:).
Well, the books had a weird storyline. The first and second book sort of went along with the storyline, but the 3rd and 4th just discarded it completly. It annoyed me to no end to find out that the monsters were not demons, just aliens. It was also annoying to have 2 main characters, they had the most random conversations I've ever read in a book.
Read the Ultimate DooM, DooM 2, Final Doom and Doom 3 game-manuals for the true original story...
