Hi All, I have new Dell Optiplex GX270 PC - PIV 2.4Ghz 512MB RAM - graphics card not great but 32MB so ok! Everytime there is a map change the PC hangs about 25% into the progress bar loading the next map. This locks the machine out altogether and forced reboot is only way out! Any answers/help on this would be much appreciated. Not sure if this happends with Wolf MP - may check that out at some point soon too! Nice one!
Did you updated RTCW to the latest patch? I had a simular problem because I was too focused on playing WW after I re-installed my system from scratch. You can find a link to the latest RTCW patch on http://www.the-wildwest.co.uk or through the links section on my homepage (url is underneath my signature)

Pretty sure I went up to 1.41 on Wolf MP! Will check! I assume this is latest! Will check anyways! Nice 1!
Yeah - just checked and already have 1.41! Any more ideas anyone?
Will try updated graphics drivers but doesnt seem to be graphics related problem!
Hmmm. What operating system do you have? I don't know of any issues like that with any Windows versions, but it may help us to know. Do you have Auto Download turned off in the game? Try doing that. Do you have a massive amount of custom pk3's in your Main wolf folder? Are you running any programs in the background? What about reinstalling WW?
Yeah - Everything he asked  plus What kind of Internet connection do you have? Broad band? -AND- Are you launching the program directly or using something like ASE? (The optiplex ships with XP but you can choose home or professional...Which do you have?)
Hi Guys, Running Win2K SP4 on corporate LAN with 2MB pipe so no bandwidth issues! I have no custom maps as this is a new machine/fresh install and I've lost interest in Wolf!! I will try turning off Auto Download! Only software running in background is AV - VirusScan - unfortunately I cant take this off as policy is enforced on network! However there are others who are running with this with no problem! As far as launching session goes I generally launch directly! Ok - I will try a few things out based on your suggestions and let you know if there is any change. Any more thoughts welcome! Thanks Tristan
This has all the signs of a driver issue here. What make of graphics card are you running? The Dells can be a bit of a pain when it comes down to drivers. I'm presuming here that you have onboard graphics, get yourself off to the Dell web site and update the agp and graphics card drivers and see if that cures it. If you havge already done that try reverting back to an older driver. Also make sure your direct x is up to date. If you right click on "My computer" and go to properties, then to the hardware manager check there are no problems with any of the devices, no yellow circles next to them.
If all else fails take a big hammer and...............
Big hammer me thinks!
Graphics card is AGP Matrox Millenium G400 32MB - bit old but worked fine in my old Optiplex GX240. Am upgrading Directx from 9.0a to 9.0b! will see if makes any diff! Tried rolling back to earlier driver but WWW wouldnt run at all! Thanks for all your ideas - will keep on tinkering!
If the game didn't work at all when you rolled back the drivers then it's deffo a graphics card driver problem. Do you have problems when you run the wolf game? You might have to try different drivers to get one to work with the game. Let me know how you get on.
