Right, first off, I LIKE this game. AND am currently playing the expansion pack that is good.

SO: Where the Hell is the Doom 3 community?

Or has everyone got bored of this game?

Please, someone, tell me I'm not alone!

Maybe they're all so busy playing the game, they can't get a chance to visit the community. or...well, heh, I can't even say it, or it'll incite teh flame fest. It's like Quake 4. Tons of hype, great game, but go look at it's forums, havn't been touched in a week. They're just to busy playing the game, or the core game just couldn't support it's life, like Doom 3 here.

WHo knows? Maybe some huge mod for Doom 3 will incite fandom all over again, but right now, yes, the community is pretty...thin.

Master Bob;3623530This is a great shame. :(

Ever heard of Doom3world.org? The community over there is pretty good. Certainly isn't dead.

While you may think Doom 3 was a great game, there were plenty of people disappointed by it when it came out. Part of the fun when it wasn't out yet, was discussion and speculation about what it was going to be like (when we all believed it was going to be 'innovative' - sure technically maybe, but gameplay-wise it was a letdown to most people). In the end, it may have been a good game but it just didn't live up to expectations which did more harm than good.

More harm than good!?!? Tosh! :p

And no game can meet everyone's expectations, sush as people wanting (or expecting) Half-Life 2 to be linear.

Doom 3 tried to cater for everyone. The PDAs had the story, but you didn't have to read them.

Remember the original Doom. That was all shooting. Doom 3 stuck to it's roots, but it also pulled off the 'horror effect' really well.

Have you even played it?

I think I know what Party Pooper is saying. Kinda like when Star Wars episode 1 came out. Many said that it was a "let down". On the contrary, it was a good movie, but all the pre-release hype ruined it for a lot of people. Doom 3 is one of my all time favorite games, and you are right Master Bob, you can choose to follow the story or just run and shoot. But the fact is the game is coming up on it's 3rd birthday and all the speculation and hype are gone. That's why there is not much of a discussion about Doom 3 anymore.
