I have never seen anyone point this out, maybe I missed it. BUT. You know when you start Doom 3 and the id sequence goes through the jumble of pipes, with valves all over the place and steam coming out: was this some sort of attempt at mockery of Valve and Steam and their software engine? Because why the hell would id create this sequence of valves and steam all over the place...what the heck does this have to do with id software? It would have been a much better opening sequence for Valve in HL2, instead Valve has a guy with a valve in his head. Anyway, I think id's opening sequence is some sort of message to Valve. I don't know what though.

I don't think so, they had that intro with Quake 3 Team Arena too, before they were in direct competition between Doom3/Half-Life 2, both wonderful games with each their good points and bad points, but both are great.

Valves and Steam -> Technology -> Sci Fi -> ID Software

and there you go.

I don't think it's so, but it's a intresting question. For me it was clear that this is IDish when the Organic part did appear.

You coud say ID Games are having fans with hearts, and Valve Games are controlling thair Fans with the valve...

Well, i just think that the video shoud look different, steam makes a cool effect, and appears very often in the game later. Also a organic heart can be found later in a game(quake4)...

Shame that thair is no beer:beer:...

But you have to admit the engine and the physics engine included (i know it's not self-made) in hl2 owns Doom3 since Doom3 still haves a really cheap physic and crap vehicle support...

Well I like d3 (much better Modding and no frik'n steam) more than hl2 but i'm still impressed about the physics in hl2 something was REALY disappointing in d3.

But HL2 have many gfx that are not 3D at all, the D3 engine is FAR BETTER !

But yes, the Physics engine in HL2 are much better than on D3 engine games, that when two objects are touching each other you can move or quick that, you have to separate them first, i hate that, and i hope that this kind of things will be fixed in some mod or on a feature patch, for all D3, Q4 and Prey games as of now, i hope this don't happen anymore in the ET Quake Wars and Prey 2 comming NEW updated D3 engine games !!!
