And, some comments on page 59. Yeah, Having random Demon spawning would be pretty creepy, but I have an idea even creepier. Rather than random spawning (which might leave an issue of two demons spawning in the same space), id could start off with certain demons placed in certain places, and if you die, program the demons to appear in other spots that they choose. It ends after about 20 times, and starts over, but in a different order. Yeah, it would take a long time to do so, but it would work. On levels like Primary Excavation (D3) that wouldn't be necessary. Since the Hellgate spawns random demons, anyways, it would be simpler to use random spawning on levels where there is a boss or a LOT of enemies.

Use the edit button... it's not that hard. When we spoke about 'random spawning monsters' as you called it, we did mean that if you die or load or start a game everything is different.

Random spawning is referring to any monsters that spawn on their own at the beginning of a level, without being programmed to spawn at any exact location. Programmed spawning is referring to when the monsters are programmed to spawn that way, and at the beginning of each level, the programmer changes the spawned monsters to the way he likes it. So, after 20 times, like I said, it starts programming it randomly again.

It'll be more or less up to the level designer/mapper to decide where they all spawn, the programmer can't choose for EVERY map.

Sorry I'm just answering the 1st post. Doom 4 is coming out. If you go to their main site, it says they've begun production on Doom 4.

Okay - they need the boss fights to be bigger. They need to make me interested in the main character. Give him a name, a family, something, anything. I don't just want his BFG and silent attitude. Dark corridors kick ass. Don't get rid of the flash-light. It adds great suspense. Keep the BFG, no HAMFBFG. Massive bosses. Cyberdemon is a classic boss - why not the embodiment of Satan himself? I mean sure, once you beat Satan, you can't really go more evil. I've actually wondered how the hell demons are made. UAC needs to figure this out by the next time I play - which should be about 666 years/months later or so than the previous game. The flashlight excuse could be "We were trying to make the guns minimalist" on the UAC's side. It has to be on a colonized Mars. Its been long enough for the UAC's arrogance to forget the incident and just move people - id, hire me. I'll write the freaking story for you. I promise. And you will outsell every other game. There is so much potential with this series if you would just elaborate a little - make the player feel emerged in the game. Make him sympathize with the marine or security officer - that would make things cooler. Just a security officer? Like in Blue Shift? Coolness. Anyways, just please God don't release it on platforms until at least a year after its released on PC. Also, make it open-ended a little. Make the demons burn into ashes only when I use my BFG. That would be amazing. Make the ash process a little longer too. I like rag-doll physics - let me play with them. Also, make it harder - I played through D3 super fast. Not as long as it took me for Halo 3, but not as long as Bioshock (another great, creepy game you could learn a bit from). Open-ended games keep players coming back for more. Make it seem as if the whole time Satan's been f'ing with me... to make it more dramatic, make me choose between saving humanity through sacrificing myself or saving myself and family - both destroying Satan but with different endings... Holy hell I have so many amazing ideas for this game's story that would be an improvement*.

*Doom 3 reminded me too much of Aliens. Sure, it was an amazing play, but it needed some originality to it.

That is true. But the levels that have a lot of enemies can have random spawning, rather than level restart programming or mapping. If it doesn't have that many demons, then programmed level restart spawning is an option. He can't do it all, but he can do what can, right? Lets get back on topic. I have an idea mentioned in the Reca|| to He|| site. How about weaker, medium-short range weapons that don't effect the enemy too much? That would scare me. And make it dark, but not Doom 3 stupid dark. If you went to the link, you'll see that the idea is amazing!!!

It would sooo work, and more open and larger environments would make it a MUST-buy! Aspects from doom 1/2 will have to come back, but mixed with that, will be awesome. Now, you have to agree with me about that. I think I just pushed the release date back a little.

I would love that, it would ROCK!!!!!! God, and let the end song either be one of two things: Blind by Korn, or Walk With Me In Hell by Lamb of God. Or just about any song from Disturbeds first album. No music in-game, only surrounding noise, or dead silence when their is a big demon, it's breathing the only thing echoing through the place in total darkness. Yes. That would be better than any Doom game yet, as I end my point.

To make it more clear, though, I will give you a scenario. You walk into a mining tunnel, only wielding a pistol, pick axe, and flashlight. You hear the sound of the Fleshcrawler, and quickly discard the flashlight, leaving you in complete and utter darkness. Your instincts tell you to go back, but your wits tell you to not be afraid. As you continue onward, it pops out of the darkness, and waits for electricity. Suddenly, you trip over a large stone with a dull thud, losing your pistol in the cave. The Fleshcrawler looks in your direction, and suddenly all your wits head down the drain.

I Shall demonstrate another enemy, the Dark Beast. You head into the center of a well-lit mining cave, knowing that almost nothing could harm you in this light. Almost. All the lights go out, as then you take out your flashlight, it will not turn on. The Dark Beast is barely heard, as the tunnels are vast, never knowing which direction you could lead into. The Beast sniffs the air for any healthy flesh, for it's sights are useless in this darkness, as well. Of course, you have no idea where it is. As the sniffing grows louder and echos in all direction, you stumble upon a pick axe. Knowing that a pistol shall do it no harm, you use your ears for guidance around this place, using the mining tool as your only usable weapon. That is, until you can feel warm, moist air on the skin of your neck when a head of a monster has found a scent on your shoulder.

Try calling that not scary. Imagine Doom 4 being like that. I'd buy it.

Everything on this page has already been a few pages back.

After seeing the picture below, it actually got me thinking. The flashlight as posted above should be removed, but without it your just looking at a black map. The flashlight does add more to the game but i think now they really do need to bring in night vision or something similar..
