I am very ambivalent about this game. On one hand, it has excellent graphics, sound effects, scares, and it's doom III! On the other hand, there seem to be an unbelievable amount of flaws in the game such as AI, gore, and all the usual. Can somebody help convince me to buy the game? If it is as scary as everyone had anticipated, i would. So...is it horrifying?

Its sorta scarey. Depends on what you are used to and what difficulty you run it at. At the hardest level, it has some pretty scarey moments. On the levels below that its a cake walk. I bought the game and i posted about it flaws. But the game is to awesome not to buy. Its a VERY good game. Just had a few flaws.

i've also wrote quite a bit about it's flaws but overall i'm glad i've bought and played it. it's not as polished or perfect as i had hoped but it's still a damn good game.

if you do want to be scared then play it with the lights off in the dark from the start. if your system runs it smooth and at least medium detail then i can't see how you couldn't be scared playing it that way.

edit: oh and compared to a lot of other FPS games coming out now this one actually takes quite a bit of time and effort to complete.

Despite blatant flaws I still think it is one of the best games ever released on PC. Having said that, without the flaws I think it would have been the greatest game ever.... But who knows, the flaws are very minor and with the amount of time this game spent "in the oven" it should have been more polished. Anyone else noticed the flashlight bug? That has got to be one of the most annoying parts of the game.

maverick808bwhat flashlight bug?

The bug I am getting is when you pull out your flashlight (default "f") you can hit the f key again and switch back to the gun you had before you pulled out your flashlight. The problem is after you walk around a while if you try to hit f again and switch to your gun quickly it doesn't work... Doesn't make sense to me. Anyone else encountered this? Nothing is more annoying then having a monster drop in your face while you have the flashlight out and hitting f to switch back to your gun and nothing happens.

Thanks guys. I think i shall buy this game. Um, just a few other questions. Its mostly about brainless killing and rarely any strategies, right? (Well, its ok as long as im frightened) I thought the whole game will scare people to death. So how come some of u said its not that scary? EDIT: OH, now i remember how u can convince me to buy it. Answer this important one too: Is doom III as scary or scarier than the original Doom? I enjoyed playing Doom 95, so Doom III better be somewhat like Doom 95 with the exception of much better graphics, physics and everything else.
