I would have to disagree. Most of the monsters and how they plan to scare ya ARE going to be scripted. No other way to do it. If you all have seen the trailers of the Hell Knights head bursting out the door trying to reach at you, or how the imps crawl out from below the floor, how can that NOT be scripted? What makes it even worse is you will remember those events, how could you not? Youll know exactly which level, which cooridor he came out of the floor, unless its similar to other cooridors. The replay value may be low, depending on the differences on diffeculties. Metroid Prime was one of the best games ever created in my opinion, but its replay value is terribly low. Sad to say it, but games that focus on single player experience have low replay value. I fear that Doom 3 will be the same. But this in no lowers my excitment, for that I feel like a child at christmas.

I think that the corridors will look alike. And I though unscripted was that it just the AI doesn't always do the same thing. Not where they are placed.

Your absolutly right. But take a monster, he will act intellegently, attempting to dodge and fire, charging and fleeing from you, Now this may or may not represent the AI of monsters in Doom 3, but scripts are required to do things as I mensioned in my other post, such as monsters poping out of vents, plunge through doors ect.

AI is very generic, scripts are run for special circumstances as described above, after the special circumstance (script) has been run, the AI takes over and he will do what his generic AI was coded to do, such as hide, run, attack, charge, flee ect.

Basically, but they still have AI, monsters in Doom I, II and Final where not scripted, and thier AI was very simple. They AI told them to zigg zag abit, shoot, zig zag some more ect. And Attack enemy monsters of a different type. Again there where no scripts in the original Doom. An example of a script in the original doom would be ,say, a Cyber Demon knocking down a wall by a triggered event ( you walking near the wall works good) then his AI would take over telling him to zigg zag, shoot ect. edit: forgot to add that monsters could be told to act differently unders some circumstances, but this was still goverened by AI, such as "def" and even "blind" monsters. And those are exactly what they mean.
