Yo i am doing a study between the technology used in doom and what technology advances have been used in the making of doom 3. It would be very helpful if anyone which knows the technical differences in the games could fill me in on the detail because i do not currantly own doom 3 and doom i only have on a floppy so there are no technical detail on it. plus the internet hasn't been to helpful in my search on this subject. Thank dude's and i hope you enjoy the playing of the games

Wow, this is going to require an immense level of technical information and input from someone/people who have been affiliated with such developers as the one who created the Doom franchise. At least, if you wish to build up an in-depth, detailed report. I regret that I cannot be the one to accurately and comprehensibly explain the technological advances in great detail.

I am sure that there is a large variety of websites that you would be able to access and search through to compile an appropriate amount of information, but I lack the necessary educational background to get you started on such a complicated research project such as this. If I feel anytime soon that I may hold the key to some information or have a resource that you may potentially find usefull in your process here, then perhaps I shall get back to you. Good luck with this. ;)

Yeah, it is pretty much everything. I think its amazing how we went from pixalated sprites that could move to almost life-like detail in only 10-12 years. I'll try to look for some sources for you, can't say how reliable they will be though.

It is even more astounding when you consider that, chronologically, we have progress from pixelation to extremely detailed modeling from Doom 2 to Doom 3 (if you disregard the time period in between)!

Thanks all of uses for replying to my question. I probally would of been better asking what things were the same since so much has changed. I got to admite i choose this subject because i enjoy gaming but i probally should of choose a more boring subject because all this research is putting me off even hearing the name doom but then i get it's been an excuse to play doom 3 demo in class. Thanks again for all of your help im away off to the pub see you all later
