is it just me or did anyone else find all the bosses totally unscary? i played the whole game with the lights down and was pretty darn scared in places during the normal gameplay but whenever a boss appeared all the fear left me.

i'm not sure why. maybe it's because they were always so well lit up or maybe the fact that they are all pretty huge makes it unrealistic. does anyone else agree? if so can anyone think up a way that the bosses could have been made to be more intimidating?

I have a question, were most of the original doom monsters in this game?

As to ur comment, maverick maybe they could have tried to make the music scarier and not make all the bosses the same: big, and well-defined....

Keep that to yourself. Some of us aren't trying to beat the game with all the cheats.

Well, I can understand the point of this thread, and I will say this much:

Spoiler: Show

I came across the first boss, the female spider demon (her name slips my mind again), and she is really not all that difficult to defeat, with the right weapons. I kept sprinting in circles around her while continually pumping plasma into her. Yes, I was hit a few times by her levitating objects, but she was deceased within moments.

I think the battle would have been much more frightening if she tried to grab you with her legs, paralyze you with venom and wrap you up in a cocoon of webbing. THAT would have made me quite uncomfortable.

I think what made those situations not-so-scary is that you kind of expect them to come. It's not like going through levels, when you *know* something is coming, but you're just not sure where or when. It keeps you on edge, ready, tight and ready to strike. So when it does come, you usually jump, or at least I did. Much like the first Aliens Vs. Predator, this game scared the bajeezus outta me.

When you enter a big room, and there is a build up, that being on edge isn't there, you know it's coming. I think that's what made the difference to me.

i think you're right goat herder. once you see the boss you know what you're up against and so just get to it. i can't think of anything they could have done to make them scarier... i guess it's a problem all games have.

majic mushroom...

Spoiler: Show
yeah i found exactly the same thing. i had loads of ammo for the plasma gun and i used exactly the same strategy and she was literally dead withing 15 seconds. in fact, on the last levels of the game those spider thingys just appear as normal demons during the level. same with the two big demons (sorry i don't know the names of any of these things) that are at the end of the level before you go to hell. they are normal baddies all the time in later levels.

I don't have the game yet but can anyone tell me if the Spider Mastermind is back or not and also how many bosses are there total.
