That is a 3d graphics card used by the commercial industry. It is optimized for rendering in Open GL, HEIDI, and GLINT but is not optimized for Direct X gaming.

If I want to model a superdetailed 480,000 poly King George the 5th Battleshp it would do it with little problem.

But ask it to draw 25-30 3500polygon shaped objects quickly and draw visual and lighting effects Im not convinved how well it will do as its not optimized for that.

Im willing to bet a Radeon X800X or a Geforce 6800GT with 256MB could outperform a Wildcat with 256MB.

Besides look at those prices!

Nvidea and ATI will soon put 512 mb cards in thier normal line up, Im guessing early next year, but they wont be affordable for most for another year and a half.

Agreed, I would not deviate like such on the brands of GPU that I am used to buying. ATI and nVidia are the most reliable, mainstream choice product vendors for gamers, and with good reason. They will soon release their new 512mb boards; those shall be the ones of choice to get...and notice that these alternate choices of hardware have not shown up in any gaming ads?
