I know the story isn't going to be much different than the first Doom. You already know where it begins and probably ends (somewhere in hell maybe).

For shits and giggles, what kind of story would you the user want Doom III to go?

For instance, at the end of this Doom game (maybe 4 in the future?), I would expect the "Hero" to shut-down the portal from which the creatures are coming through and think that was the end, until; the game cuts to another scene where there's another portal of which must be shut-down also. Maybe this portal is actually on Earth! Which, would be pretty awesome, leading to Doom 4, part 2.

What ideas could you come up with to make the story go on, in even a completely unknown direction?

hmmmmmmm Doom3 a twist i think pherhaps it would be mad cool if after there was a portal shutdown on mars, u had to go down to earth and shut that one down, but this time in like an expansion pack you have AI marines to help you and maybe even some vehicles!

This is a really good question and an excellent post...true that Doom ended with all the demons being wiped out on base of one of Mars' moons (which mood was it again?), only to have them later somehow moved onto Earth and continue the hell there. I think if id were to continue the legacy with a Doom 4: Hell on Earth, they'd be pretty much free to be creative and draw up a new story, working only on the ground originally from Doom 2 that the action will now take place on Earth, meaning mostly in the deslolate ruins of the worlds largest cities. Besides that, they'd be free to take the story sequences where they desired, since Doom 2 had a rather loose storyline as it was.

I figure that you are trapped on the facility. The experiments gone wong, the forces of hell take over the facility, you are the sole survivor of the UAC facility and you got to get yourself out of the planet and go somewhere else and to never return. Or you could just kill them all.

From some pictures I've seen, Hell looks sweet, hopefully there's a cool story that goes along with it, ya know, other than going down there to kill more and more demons to stop the invasion.

I like how in Doom III they have added survivors (I think?), that was the one thing that disapointed me in Doom 1-2, you were all alone and would be alone for the whole game. Having squadmates can add to the story and make gameplay a bit easier, plus some cool death scenes when they start losing a fight  .

Yeah, that's one aspect that'll make Doom 3's gameplay and storyline a bit more rich, and may even put the story in jeopardy at times: whether you successfully save the life of a still sane security guard or scientist could make the difference between which path you take or what you walk away with or without in a situation (health, provision, armor, etc.).

Something I just noticed:

The main hero in Doom III seems to have some kind of atmosphere to himself (other than being pissed off at the demons). This would generate a question; should the hero have a name and history. Should he be allowed to show emotions in the story (maybe for the loss of loved ones fallen by the demons' claws) should he even be allowed to speak (have a pyshical voice).

Say the "hero marine" did have some past and history that was added to the game, where would this generate from and how would you all think the mood, story and overall game would be affected? After all, he's been with the Doom series since the first Doom. I've been dying to know a little info about this guy...(and no, I don't have a mancrush).
