Actually Sid, the Arch-Vile WILL return this time, I believe in a much more twisted, menacing form. The 2002 issue of PC Gamer magazine has a preview of what the new Arch-Vile is going to look like here:

Of course, after all the modifications done to Doom 3 by id Software, this depiction may be significantly changed (or not :naughty: ). Ghost I kinda tend to agree with you, that the Pinky demons used to be a pain, and would mostly just get in the way, especially in large numbers. I expect that they will be more or less the same this tim around, judging from the looks of their behavior in the latest Doom 3 trailers. :uhoh: And don't worry Nik, message recieved clearly and concisely. :D

Since there was two large types of Demons in the original games (Baron of Hell and Hell Knight) The demon we see as the Hell Knight may be the Baron of Hell or it may be the Hell Knight and the Baron of Hell will be in the game and Id isnt telling us.

If you watch the Doom 3 Legacy video, there are, in fact, clip of what I believe is the Baron of Hell. The Hell Knight, as we have already seen, has been redesigned, but I think that the Baron of Hell may still have distinct resemblance to that of the 2nd Doom. This new creature has vaguely the same looking head and body structure (walking like a goat on it's hind legs), both of which you can get a clear view of in the legacy trailer...example: one scene shows him walking towards you down a hall which looks to be something out of an ancient Egyptian tomb, with a light source panning around the room and casting shadows in every correct direction.

Well, the Arch Ville has returned. I look the new look, the old one wasn't very menacing looking.

My favorite enemy is a dead enemy which can no longer be bursting out of walls and such.

lol yes, I'm sure that will cause everybody a big *sigh* of relief

Actually, I always though that the classic Arch-Vile looked rather shocking, like some sort of spirit out of a gothic horror story. It didn't necessarily look so much menacing, but instead, to me just came as an instant spark of fear  .....I'd agree though, the new version of this monstrosity looks much more savage.

Yes, the original was sort of nasty looking, but they never really posed a threat to me. Sometimes I let them revive weaker monsters just to kill them again. Do you think the Arch Ville has any new powers this time?

I would have to say that it's too early to tell at this point...I expect that the Arch Vile will have it's classic abilities to spontaneously combust enemies and resurrect fallen comrades, but any other methods of attack that id has provided it with shall go unknown until the final release. :uhoh:
