Hi all, I have only just recently got Doom3 because it was only just released on Friday for me and am looking forward to be making my own little maps, skins and mini-mods. I just need to clear up a feww things to get a little jump start. I already know how to look inside the contents of the game and look a scripts and skins, thanks to Far Cry i already have experience in .dds formats, however .tga is a new one for me.

Firstly I was told that the editor for making your own maps is shipped with the game (was told by lil book that came with PC Gamer UK) however I don't actually have it and yes i have looked on all the cd's. Where would i go to download the editor.

Secondly what would you say is the best Doom3 website to go to. For Far Cry i go to the official website as it has the latest news, dowloads and official forums but for Doom3 the official website doesn't provide much.

By the way what is the name of the editor, is it just Radiant like the Q3 one or not?

the editor comes with the game. While running Doom 3, Press Ctrl-Alt-~ to open the console, then simply type "editor" to open it. The editor is a version of Radient for Doom 3. Run the game in a window (alt-enter) or you won't see the cursor while using the editor

The only special thing about the tga format is that they contain an alpha channel. Most programs like Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro can save .tga's. If you include an Alpha channel be sure to save your tga's as 32 bit, otherwise save as 24 bit.

If your interested in mods and skins and stuff, Doom3Files is a good place to go
