getting above 65 is kind of hard to believe since the actual game is capped at 65 so anything above without changing any variables is HIGHLY unlikely.

the command to remove the fps cap of 60 is com_fixedTic -1. the cap, to me, seems to be designed with the idea that most monitors can only refresh at 60hz. So having a fps of 75 will not matter on a monitor that displays only 60hz cuz you'll only be able to see 60 fps at that refresh rate. my monitor puts out 85hz so i can essentially see 85 fps on my games.

Edomingox,

I have an old Dell CRT 17". I was wondering if setting it to its higher values (such as 85 mhz, which it can support) could have any adverse affects on the physical components of the moniter? Im getting a LCD screen for the winter holidays, but i dont wanna blow out my screen atm, lol. also, does refreshrate have anything to do with the strange "flashing" you get sometimes with smoke effects in the game (such as hk's fireball, rocket exhaust, or bernie's flames)?
