Ok thought I'd start another thread about this: http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=106913 Please use this thread to dicuss the rules, perhaps I have missed something from them ? or you feel they could be worded better. I will be contacting a couple of selected regulars later, who I will be giving "PB Power" rights to on the servers.. these players will have the power to instantly kick any other player who they believe are breaking the rules. Good decisions. You should post a link to that thread on the main page of www.The-WildWest.co.uk. Not everyone comes here.

Well I think we all have to agree that some sort of action had to be taken as the mod took off. I think we all knew it was only a matter of time. Lets hope extream measures don't have to be used and everyone can enjoy the mod they way we use to. There are some good players out there, including Gazton and other newcomers, and its a shame that rules have to be enforced. Hewster has wiped the slate clean for banned players, lets hope it stays that way.

And that's only fair. As Gaz points out. Many RtCW servers couldn't care less about the language used. However, this is another way that WildWest differs. Even here on the forums. To be fair, the unwritten "rules" had to be posted somewhere. It would be nice if each server could write them out when the game starts. Then everyone would know what is and is not acceptable and can't plead ignorance. Even if it is just common sense. Heck, just look at how nice El-Bong cleans up! ;)

I do think that would be a good idea Queeg. That way then, as you say, there is no excuse for commiting an offence. I think in the whole the majority of servers that run any sort of game will not tollerate abusive or foul language but there are some servers where anything goes.

As I said earlier we knew it would only be a matter of time before things would have to change, and change they have. At one time we use to, lets say, "police" ourselves but now with newer players joining the time has come to change with the times. Are we being old fuddy duddy's? I think not. It all comes down to the success and best interests of the mod, which we all have at heart.

@Hewster I agree absolutely with these stated rules, you said it, it's common sense rules, therefore it are indisputable (although it is disturbing to have to establish that)

I also know that too many rules kill the rule, it will be necessary to pay attention not to put to it too many things inside either...

This said, I nevertheless make a point of a problem which these rules do not mention, i mean the teams balanced. isn't it possible to balance automatically the teams at each round beginning? it is sure that when one or more players leave the round in progress, automatic balancing is not desirable, but in the beginning of a round, that would avoid typing "EVEN THE TEAMS PLEASE" during fifteen minutes before somebody moves!

@Hewster I agree with these rules, and yes they are common sense rules, Good work! :nodding:

@Server Admins A suggestion I have that sorta relates to what Queeg said. Maybe the server you run could have a bind sorta thing that lists all the rules and it says it like every, say, 10 to 15 minutes, so that players know and understand the rules of the server.

Now Bigus, I haven't played with you a lot, so you might be doing this already, but... My advice is that if you see the teams uneven then just do it. Since the release of 1.5 we've seen good idea votes succeed, like what, 1 in 10? Therefore if you want to try a quick reset match vote, great, but don't expect it to pass, and just move to the other team when it doesn't. Sure, it's not quite as fun when you've started to build a rhythm with the team you've been playing with and then leave, but I think of it as a challenge too. Can you turn the tide? Can you help the group of newbies kick the regulars' collective hineys? Now that's fun!

Queeg and I have been trying to do this, though I'd rather play with him than against him. That being said...see my title! :)

Yeah, some of us live closer to a fantasy world than others....;) And it is kind of annoying to have to switch sides...Yesterday in town, as a doc I had 25 points (the top for my side) and had to switch since we were just shutting them down at the bridge and they called for teams a couple times. So, I announced the switch to all and told my team to get a new doc. (Don't know if they did) That balanced the teams then and the game was a lot more fun even though the bandits never played as smoothly as the cowboys were at the beginning. Inspite of some nice snipering by SteelKnight.

Obviously, I did not succeed in expressing my point of view correctly (after all I am only one French who "studied" English only 4 years  )

when I speak about balanced teams, I do not think of the level of the players who compose them. There is no will of my share to exclude the newbies compared to the others. It is the number of players who compose the teams of which I want to speak.

When I see that the opposing team is lower numbers some, and that my score is not very at this time high there, then i switch, i do not have any problem with that (I think that other players can confirm it)

When I type "EVEN THE TEAM PLEASE" during 15 minutes, it is that I am in the lower team in a number! :clueless: BD
