Found this tweak guide through tomshardware

Kick ass guide. Much better than the config tweak IMO.

Enjoy! :)

EDIT: If you are unsure about installing the beta 4.9 drivers, just download the Atioglxx.dll in the link and plop it in your doom3 folder.

I used another mod that was in the Doom 3 performance heading. Would changing a mod in this game affect my systems' performance as a whole in other games?

I can't run unreal 2004 anymore, and that really bothers me. Its not going to the internet screen properly.

To be honest with all I did no tweeks and get a 67.8 FPS on high detail and on ultra I got 51.2 FPS so why is everyone having a problem running this game? What Drivers are you all using?

Ive got myself a Intel 3.0 ghz , with 512 ram , and a Radeon 9600 xt. Ive noticed from all my tweaking that Doom 3 just plain doesnt give ATI users a break. The guy above ^ seems to have no trouble ... i wish i knew his secret. If i invest in a 9800 pro like he's got am i gonna see a noticable difference? Ive been trying to track down a X800 xt Platinum Edition , friggin hard to get ahold of. but after doing many many tweaks (changing the config file to alter cache size , and decompressing the .pk4 files) i still can barely run the game on high mode. its sad really. anyone who's said that these tweaks work have used NVidia cards ... I can understand that NVidia has some advantages ... but i dont want to bust money on a new power supply to get a 6800 ultra. so if their are any suggestions i would be happy.

A big help is Virtual Memory, it needs a lot, with a large hard drive you should reserve 10gig of it. This can be done by using Partition Magic. If you need more instructions on how to do this I would be glad to to help. My brother is the software Geek and Im just the Hardware Nerd so I would have to get the info from him. But once I get it I can offer it to anyone who needs it.

AFAIK the tic won't let you get anymore than 60 FPS... how could possibly you get more than it.

Yeah man i hate that. You cant get more then 60 FPS. Doom 3 has locked that rate. So everyone saying that they are getting more then 60 FPS means they havnt got the game or cannot read there FPS Meter.
