Is It Illegal to give info on how to change the title soundtrack? It's quite easy to do and I want to share , but I don't want to get into trouble...

The song on the doom3 menu screen reminded me of the song Lateralus from Tools Lateralus album. So I figured hey let's change this..the stock song is fine and dandy but it's quite short, and loops continuously. So for those of you who don't know...( probably 2 people).. There might be an easier way to do this , but: Here's my process . Tools needed: 1:An audio converter app (such as DBPowerAmp and the .ogg codec) 2:Winzip. 1:Pick your favorite song...any song it can be any size or length. 2:Convert the song to an .ogg ( there's millions of free apps that do this.) 3:rename the converted track to d3theme.ogg. 4:navigate to /doom3/base. 5:extract pak003.pk4 to somewhere safe. 6:Back-up the original Pak003.pk4 in case you screw it up. 7:Navigate in the extracted file to \sound\musical. 8:Copy your new song over the old one. 9:Open WinZip and drag your extracted file (/sound) into Winzip. 10:Use no compression, and use include system and hidden files. 11:Rename zip file to pak003.pk4. 12:Copy the new pak to /doom3/base. 13:Enjoy your new title theme. If you screw up don't blame me... plus you should have backed up your original pak file..

Well, you shouldnt really do that. Just make a new pak file instead of rewriting the original!

.ogg files are better then mp3s too bad there isnt any ogg players out there. I just wish I knew how to do this for cnc generals they have the songs right off the cd. edit: or you could add more then one soundtrack with a music editor and just make the whole thing loop.
