Hello, sometimes when I try to join a server, the games freezes. And then a message comes up and it says "You have been kicked for ?(forgot)minutes. Invalid .pk3 files referenced!" and the only way to fix this for me is to restart my computer.(and it is not very fast so i have to wait awhile)I guess that it doesn't just happen to me, because sometimes during the game it will say that somebody got kicked because of that.

I have only experianced this when dropping back to the main menu when changing to a new server.. I believe it is due to the bug in the wolf.exe which limits the number of pk3 files it scans.. I belive the client is getting confused with the pk3's in the clients main folder, when it should be looking for the pk3's in the WW folder.. I cant do anything about this, however I belive when we finally release 1.4, and I put all files in 1 or 2 pk3's, this problem should go away... untill we have lots of custom maps, then it will probably start happening again... this situation will not be soulved until ID / Activision release an patch for Wolf, which addresses this bug in the wolf.exe.

I find that shutting down the game, and re-starting it soulve the issue, you should not need to restart your PC !

Are you running 1.41 of RtCW?

They did change how this works in later Q3A releases. It now asks for the directories from the Server (I guess they were hard coded before and that caused more problems). So even if you are running the latest, I'd guess that if you or the server has renamed directories containing active pk3's, that could cause this problem.

The Shrub mod page also has this indicating it could be a server problem: If you are experiencing "Illegible server messages/invalid .pk3 files referenced", your server config may be too long. Seperate it into two configs, and call the second config via "exec config2.cfg" from the first config.
