Cannot locate DOOM 3 Disk 1. CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game.

I have a DVD burner and nero install. THAT'S IT! I have attempted to do everything on there support site. However, it was designed for other Operating systems other than XP. You can't do 80 percent of that crap that they wanted you to do. I preorder the CD's and recieved the CD's with MY OWN CD-KEY and got it at 1PM today.

After some creative editig, your post makes a lot more sense.

Secondly, Nero usually installs a program like InCD which can be seen as a CD-emulating program.Google/Yahoo the net for some ideas on how to fix your problem, but refrain from swearing plz...it's a bit pointless...and it makes you look like a newbie.

Mine's doing it, too. That's just BS for a game I just shelled out $60 for. I'll post again if I discover the cause in my case.

Ok, I found my solution. I have CloneCD installed on my system. Apparently there is a new CD "protection" that gives you this error if you have certain CD copying software installed. The fix in my case is this:

Look on your task bar at the bottom right of your screen (next to the clock). Locate the CloneCD tray icon (or start it up from the windows start menus), which can be a picture of two CD-ROMs or of a sheep's head. Right Click on the icon and make sure "Hide CD-R media" is un-ticked. Restart the game application.

Worked for me. :nodding:

Shame on id for making me waste an hour of my time screwing with crap like that. If they're that worried about losing business to hacks, perhaps they should worry more about their game performing without making me jump through hoops after I pay big money for it. I bet the hacked copies work without all that.

**NOTE: I am not encouraging the use of pirated software, so no one take my comments as such!!**

I support pirated copies completely when the people that made the game won't tell us what we need to look for to fix the problem. Oh, I am a nub. don't know anything about doom 3. However, HL2 I know everything about. I have been studying HL2 since they said it would be coming out.

Okay, maybe I am wrong about one thing. I have a directory with CloneCD installed, but that was installed before I reinstalled windows. If they are looking for the directories then they will get sued because that is illegal in the USA. They are saying that we can't have software installed that they aren't related to. Therefore it is hurting other businesses a whole lot. Therefore after saying that. SCREW DOOM3!

Fixed it. deleted my CloneCD for a few days. I have to reinstall windows on this drive anyway. So, oh well. I'll find a way to have both running. Like, I'll change the name or something.

CloneCD was the one and only problem for me when trying to start the game. Of course, I had been trying to figure this out for the last hour or so. So I'm glad I found this post. I couldn't find a way to actually disable the emulation from within CloneCD, so I just went ahead and uninstalled it. The game started right up!!!
