I am trying to get cam's doom mod or the duct tape mod to work on my friends computer. They are the latest versions available but they keep crashing his copy of doom 3 on loading. He is running doom 3 on a G5 running mac os X version 10.4.2 with 2.5 GB of ram and a GeForce 5200. Do these mods only work on the PC version because they work fine on my Athlon 3000+? Is there some sort of mod converter? Or are there any sites where I can find Doom 3 Mac mods? I just hate to have shown him all of these cool mods which he can't seem to run.

Games with a modified dll will not be playable on linux or mac without being specifically compiled for those platforms. However, some mods do have mac support...one of them being Last Man Standing Coop, another Cdoom...anyway you'll have some cool stuff to play on a mac.

Actually, MOST mods should work on macs. He said only mods with code changes won't. Since most mods are "omgz 100-bajillion bullets w/ 1-hit killz gg d3m0nz!" and the like, the chances are high that they don't modify the game's source.

Is your friend patched to the current version? Do all mods crash his Mac? I know some Nvidia users have troubles with Doom 3 and sometimes they can be rectified by rolling back to a previous driver version.
