Hey all,

I have a AMD XP1700 system with 512k mem and a geforce 4 card. Problem is that even on the bare settings in running Doom 3, the system keeps locking up. If I let it sit long enough, all textures go to black except for any lighting - I.E Monitors or lights.

My system meets the minimum requirements to run the game. I've downloaded and installed the latest video drivers and direct X. I was thinking of reformatting one of the two drives I have, converting to a dual boot system and installing Windows 2000 Pro. Think this will help, or is there something else I can do?

I have the same problem. Game plays fine for 10 or 15 minutes then it freezes for about 10 seconds. Next all the light is gone but you can see things like the machine gun ammo readout. The game seems like it functions, but you cannot see anything

I have a AMD 3200 Barton core 1G of RAM Geforce Ti 4400 most likely a video card issue. I am trying to scour as many forums to find a solution.

To answer my own similar issue, this seems to work for me.

As i found in other threads, you can change your doom3 config file "DoomConfig.cfg" You need to find the line that reads [seta image_cacheMegs "xxx"] where the xxx is probably set on 20 or 32. Change it to at least 96. I set mine to 256 and have not seen any more problems. I am even running it in higher quality now. hope this helps
