Dirty or damaged disk.

Try to clean it, if worst comes to worst return it for a non damaged disk.

Thats the only thing i could imagine as the problem. According to your error it's a classic case of dirty or damaged.

EH HEMMMM, hEY MAN, IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER CD-DRIVE TRY USING IT BEFORE YOU POSSIBLY WASTE A TRIP TO THE RETAILERZ. COULD BE A DIRTY/BAD CD-ROM MAN. DOOM 3 IS PICKY ABOUT IT'S DRIVES. --ALSO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE ANY PROGGIES RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND THAT YOU CANT SEE MAKIN YOUR PC RUN/INSTALL LIKE DUMP. HOLD CTRL-ALT-DEL AND CLICK THE PERFORMANCE TAB TO MAKE SURE CPU USAGE IS BELOW 5% WITH ALL PROGRAMS CLOSED. --IF CPU USAGE IS HIGH RUN AD-AWARE OR ANOTHER FREE SPYWARE REMOVER! --AND OF COURSE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SCANNED YOUR PC FOR VIRII (VIRUSES) --QUOTEUNKNOWN--:cya:

... that wouldn't explain why the game installed perfectly... with the exception of a pack on one of the disks. Nor would it explain why other games on his system installs just fine. It's likely as i said. A damaged disk.

Having an adequte CD-ROM drive is something that goes without saying, as you need to be following the minimum requirements. But that's doubtfuly the issue.
