At first the game ran just fine. Got through the first 30 minutes without a hitch, but later on the game would just randomly lock up my entire system. So I download the ATI Doom 3 Hotfix. Don't run into any problems...but after awhile, the game locks up anyway. Wtf is up with this? Can people who use ATI not play or something? I'm running a decent system, although not godly, but well within the bounds of being able to play the game. I am currently running a Pentium 4 2.5ghtz, 512mb DDR Ram, ATI Radeon 9600 XT. I dunno what is up...is there any tips or anything to help a guy out? I was thinking it might be the system overheating...and if it is, how would I prevent that?

it does sound kinda like a overheating problem, turn on your pc, leave it on for a bit, then open the covers, if hot air comes out like if your opening an oven(not as hot though lol), just hot enough were its uncomfortable, there is something that is getting too hot. 3 things that overheat often 1. CPU 2. RAM 3. Video card

your best bet is to buy a couple of fans and pop them in there each fan is like 2 bucks. See what happene.

Well, I popped in some fans, and it's alot cooler now, but the game still locks up at certain points. I'm think it's because I have an ATI card, and everyone with an ATI seems to be having problems right now.

Has ID software annouced a patch yet?

Well, I was still having problems with the ATI drivers, so I finally tried out the Omega drivers. Haven't had a problem since. I suggest downloading those. http://www.omegadrivers.net/
