Doom 3 Starts Then Quits After Splash Screen. The wierd part is I dont get an error when the program terminates its self. Installed the same copy of the game on other machines and it runs fine so I know its not my copy of the game.:uhm: Specs: AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 Asus mobo 1 Gig ECC DDR ATI Radeon X800 Platium Audigy 2 SATA RAID (XP and Drivers all to date) REAL Bummer the game runs on 5 of my lesser powered systems Fine, and on my powerhouse craps without reason. Hmmmmmm to much power
It should be screaming fast on that system. Although, It could be an issue with the 64 Bit processor. I don't want to say it is or isn't that, but it could be. How long ago did you install the OS? If it has been over 6 months and you have done a lot of install/uninstall, or have done a lot of web surfing without much protection other than simple firewall and virus scanner, your OS could be hosed up. Spyware/Adware, Scumware in general can hork up a system pretty good. You are using ECC memory, I don't know if you can turn the Error Correcting off but you might try if you can. I don't know if ECC is built in or might be a softmenu BIOS setting. ECC is best used for Large servers transfering office type data, (Word Excel files, sharing files, running inhouse buisness products, etc.), not home machines or gaming machines. They have a higher latency due to ECC, which is not good for gaming. Have you ever gotten to the options menu in the game? It could be a driver issue. Possible reinstall of vid drivers. Try the ATI 4.9 beta drivers, install DirectX 9.0c , it can be found on the net in various places. Do not install Beta SP2 for XP. Bad memory stick? Defrag your drive, and make sure you have atleast a 2G Page File. This is purely speculation, so don't put too much stock in it, but save it for a last ditch effort as a possible issue. Might check the SATA drivers, if they are horking up something with the hard drive. Could be anyway. Are you Striping or Mirroring? Either of those might be a problem if it's scattering files accross two drives for either setting. D3 appears to want to do many options quickly as possible. Extracing files and rendering them really fast. This could be what I would term "file thrashing". If one drive skips a beat, D3 would most likely quit cause a file was not properly extracted, or extracted quickly enough. I would expect an error of some sort though. but you never know. I could be way off on this one. What have you tried so far? These are just somethings you can look at or try. Without knowing what all you have tried, it's not easy to tell you what else to try.
well so far all i'ved used the machine for is encoding and decoding video files (its blazing fast at it too!!!). this is the first game i've deemed worth to grace the machine. I checked all the drivers and they are upto date the games closes after the splash screen disappears and the game console SHOULD load up. I have heard of people running it with a 64bit chip but i havent heard about the fx chips. I thought that game should blaze on that system too REAL BUMMER.
try the 4.9 beta drivers for the ATI card. Get them at Guru3d , you might even try the Omega's, I have not tried those yet. I have an AIW 9800 Pro using the 4.9's and DX 9.0c.
 WELL thank you the beta driver and dx 9c got me into the game console gunna try it out now thanks again i'll let yah know how it is maybe a screenshot cuz i'm shooten for ultra settings:bows:
I am having the same problem u had... I just installed DX9.0c and have the latest 61.76 driver from Nvidia and I still can't get passed the spalsh screen... Anything else I could try?
