i just bought the game and installed it without a problem. when i tried to play it i got and error stating that i needed administrator privileges to play the game. i was using an XP account with these privileges and tried creating new accounts, switching accounts, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the game. NOTHING works...anyone have this problem or have a clue how to fix it???

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This is to be used for trouble shooting purposes ONLY, doing the following to sneak into another account on your computer is HIGHLY frowned upon. Again, for troubleshooting purposes only :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I suggest doing this. Turn off your computer, Boot it in safe mode. Now that your computer is in safe mode, you should have a new "profile" to start windows up with named "Administrator"... click that. Now you have the ability to give any other names administrative permissions. (as, i'm assuming your profile was configured wrong and when u think u have admin, u really don't.. and it just offsets itself) Anywho, just start it up and selec Admin. Edit your current logon name to the appropriate privliges and you should be all set.

I still suggest doing this. And try installing the game under the "real" administration.

Tell me if that doesn't solve your instillation problem.

I am having the same exact problem. I have all admin on them all, I verified it. Any other ideas? Maybe a Doom 3 bug for certain fixes of windows?

Give me a little longer, and i'll look into it. I'll try to see if it's a Doom III bug. Altho it's likely to be a windows XP issue. Also, while i'm doing such. I'd make sure you have all the critical windows updates downloaded and installed. ::: This does somewhat boggle me as I was under the impression that it would only require Administrative properties to install a game or program. But not actually run it. But i'll look into it.

:::Question: Did you upgrade from perhaps an older windows? To XP.. or do a fresh install? There seems to be somewhat of an isolated issue for people that upgraded from windows 98.

Solution: Update windows, or.. alternatively.. buy a "newer" copy of XP.

I'd go with the update part. That's for if you upgraded from windows 98, but which if you didn't. Then i still have more research to do.

Best option if you did an upgrade from any other OS (98,ME,2000) Start over from scratch and do a freash install of XP.

Upgrades are never a good thing to do unless you absolutly have to. And only for the short time of getting organized and stuff moved off to do a freash install of XP. Upgrades rarely ever work out in the long run. I would say approx 97% of the time it creates many issues to do an OS upgrade rather than a from scratch install. If you have the XP upgrade CD, when you do a freash install it only wants to check any older version of windows by asking for that CD (98,ME,2000) or floppy (Win 3.0 or 3.1 , 3.11). You do not have to install the older version first in order to do the upgrade.
