I have had Doom 3 on pc and Xbox for years now, and I had decided to uninstall it on pc to save space. Go into the Doom 3/base folder and check if it's write-disabled, and if it is then remove this gamex86.dll library, then try again to start the game.

For what i can see on that console log file, i know that D3 game can't run, because it seem they found a gamex86.dll library that is not what D3 want, that in your case it should be the patched v1.3.1 gamex86.dll library contained theoretically in the game03.pk4 compressed file, if you have that file wrong or maybe with a CRC error, then you will need to replace it with a good v1.3.1 game03.pk4 file containing a good v1.3.1 gamex86.dll file, you should know also that, this file is decompressed and then copied over into the same folder that the game03.pk4 is, in this case, the base folder, every time you run Doom 3.

Try it and tell me something, ok !

I deleted the gamex86.dll library and tried running the game and it didn't work. Then I updated the game with the latest patch and the game ran, but it was really laggy. This actually leads me to another question - does the program have issues with the Nvidea Geforce 8600 GT graphics card? I used to play Doom 3 on Ultra high quality with a geforce 6800 gt and the game would run smoothly. All of my computer's hardware is completely the same since then with the exception of the video card. I went ahead and set it to high quality and the game ran perfectly. I guess not playing on ultra quality is better than not playing at all :) Anyways, thank you Dafama for your response. I had been wanting to play this game on pc again for quite a while now.

It seems there can be some problems with your good gfx card, but try to use any of my Shaders mods and use it with any other mod you may want to play to gain the best gfx.

Also all my Shader mods have the possibility to use a shader made for NVidia only gfx cards, to enable when in game go to console and type this...:

r_useTestARBProgram 1

or you can bind it to a key doing this...:

bind u "toggle r_useTestARBProgram"

This command will bind it to the "u" key, when you press that key it will toggle from the default generic shader to the NVidia only one and if you press the same key again the shader will revert to normal generic shader and so on. :)
