That sounds like CP for my map! How about church, barn, saloon, creek, and brewery flags?

Well, not quite :lookaround: but I do have an idea, layout and storyline ready, the problem is that I don't know anything about mapping. Which bring me to the following: If there is/are any mappers who are interested in a great train robbery idea (which is to my humble opinion do-able) just PM me and I'll send you the details.

Talk is cheap :moon:. Ideas are abundant, people who have the will and time to map them are not :smokin:

Gringo,

You are absolutely right about that

Never the less everyone is talking about ideas (which is great) and no-one has made a layout/storyline/etc...

My whole point is, if you want it you can get it, it is ready to be send, if you don't you won't.

Ttttthattt's all :agreed

I'd like to see it, but it may be easier to email me at mda1978@aol.com. Without even reading it, I assume it would be a very ambitious design. The technical challenges associated with making a moving train, are just incredible. Like Hewster said, 3 to 4 months (for me that would be full time, not free time). I've seen a train map, where the train was stationary, and the scenery scrolled past (you can make textures scroll). Works good, but you couldn't get on or off the train (without getting gibbed) nor was there real terrain moving past. With that method no tunnels, no bridges, no mountain passes. What I've learned through mapping is that the most ambitious designs don't always translate into the most fun. But it's hard to kid myself that jumping on and off a moving train wouldn't be awesome :agreed: For my next map, I'm thinking huge CP. Where terrain is the focus, rather than buildings. No heavy plot, just kill or be killed. A lot of creeping through ravines hiding behind rocks, etc.. I enjoy getting into those gritty 20 second long one on one battles. Objectives are an afterthought for me. Of course my first map isn't even released, so my opinion may change depending on how that goes :)

El Paolo, after looking at your plans for the train map, I can see you have some good ideas. You wanna design a huge 4 flag CP map for us? I'm thinking a flag in a little village, one on top of a hill..... I'm trying to think of how you could represent elevation for me, but we'll figure it out if you wanna do it. You can go nuts with the terrain, but remember tunnels and such have to be made manually instead of with EasyGen. Draw out where you want boulders and rocks etc..

Well, thank you partner, as they say back home: You don't have to be crazy, but it helps :D

Should be do-able :agreed: If you are talking about a map like Trenchcoast in RTCW, why not throw 2 or more extra flags in there? Keep in mind though: I'm full of ideas, but nill experience in mapping.

Elevation shouldn't be a prob (color-shading will give you an impression, like I did with the train robbery scenario.

No problemo's amigo, I'll see what I can do for you. Do you want to have the idea in the same format as the train-robbery scenario? Just let me know:D

Yeah, that format would be good. With the few # of people currently playing, I think 6 flags would be impossible for 1 or 2 people to own. Plus, I wan't a lot of real estate between flags, so when you take one it stays in your possesion long enough to get another. It has to be far bigger than Trenchtoast. Each trip to a flag should be a mini-adventure. :)

Hi EL-Paolo

I got your e the other day, I've only just had the time to look it over. I like the idea a lot. I think there could be some changes as this could be one hell of a big map. It certainly would take a few months to start it from scratch. I'll send you my thoughts and ideas later on today. I am actually considering it for my next map, me rushing ahead again. :)I'm hoping now i've a better idea of map building that would be an easy map to produce. By the looks of things it would make for interesting game play.
