...so BE PREPARED for some NECESSARY TWEAKING...

(nice to have friends at the rretail GameStore:rolleyes: ) Anyway, just loaded up my brand spankin new copy of D3 and I have a feeling this is going to take quite a bit of tweaking to get to run smoothly. It runs very choppy out of the box on the MEDIUM setting and I have a pretty good system set up: Athlon64 3000 nVidia 5900XT 1 Gig Corsair XMS RAM Latest nVidia Drivers (61.77) The game looks AWSOME, but runs choppy.... Just thought I would warn the rest of you...so you would know what to expect. BTW, if you PREORDERED you will be able to pick up your copy at Gamestop 11 hours from now (after 7pm), otherwise it won't be available until tomorrow. ...well I am off to play with settings/tweaks/drivers. If I figure anything out I will pass it on....:D

Out of the box you say? Where did you get the box? Thought it wasn't released yet. As for me, I won't be playing it apparently with a 1.2 ghz processor.

IF you pre-ordered it...you can pick it up at Gamestop after 7pm tonight (5 hrs from now). If you did not preorder it you should be able to get it tomorrow. .as for myself, I built a computer for a friend who works at one of the stores (the store will remain anonymous..for obvious reasons). They obtained their supply this morning....

Anyway, You should be able to play on your 1.2 machine, especially if you have a good vid card (best with 256 ram on it).

I Reinstalled my nVidia Drivers, set all of the nVidia controls to "performance", diabled my nView, and now the game runs like a charm.

Once you get the hang of it it is very creepy, and Oh so Beautiful. After a few more of my friends get the game, I will be running a Server...that ought to be a kick.

I am currently using nVidia Video drivers 61.76, and running everything (all fancy stuff, like spectral lighting, etc) on. System Setting-- Vid Quality set to High Quality.

Runs like a champ.

Indeed, LP I do not see how you have played the legal version of Doom 3, as it is not yet out. Unless, of course, your recieved your copy from a vendor which offered it on July 31st...:Puzzled:

Ahh, my mistake, I missed it...anyhow, as LP has proved, it is typically a matter of having up-to-date display drivers installed when you have a powerful GPU such as the GeForce 5900 XT (being overclocked :naughty: ). I am sure the game is exceptionally good-looking, and I shall find out for myself later this week.
