i have no idea what that means, but i was wondering: can install doom 3 on a computer with those graphics? what is that equivalent to? 64, 128, 264?
It means the graphic chip is on the mother board and actually uses system resources (as in memory) while running. Unlike a seperate graphic card that uses it's own on board memory and not the systems. For games that are not resource hogs, an intergarted chip does ok, but for something like Doom3 or HalflLife 2 it may slow down to a dull crawl while playing. Hope this helps a little, I'm not an expert but this is what I've read.:D
To be safe, you should get a separate video card, and never use the integrated one on the motherboard for gaming.
a few more questions..... the computer i'm talking about already has it, but is it possible to buy a graphics card and still put it in there, despite the integrated thing? also, are one of the main resources it shares with the computer RAM? it has 512, so i'm not sure what that balances out to.... thanks for the help so far
Basically u need to disable the integrated video on your motherboard. Check ur manual for this. And in response to your performance question, a geforce 4 mx 440 with 64 megs of ddr 1 ram, placed in a pci (not express) slot has performance at a better level than an integrated chipset. And this is a directx 7 level card. Do yourself a favor, go buy a 6800.
apprently the new intergrated graphics by intel can run doom 3, or so they claim
