Hi all! Finally got around to downloading & looking at WildWest - fantastic ! I'd like to get into some WW mapping myself, but maybe I should offer to help others first? Do you have collaboration teams working on maps who'd like some help? I'm fairly experienced at:

 • Using GtkRadiant
 • Shader writing (including terrain, lightmapping & phong varieties)
 • Keeping up with Ydnar's latest goodies

I've looked around at how to set up Radiant for WW mapping, and the stuff around here seems a little out of date - I guess I could just unpack the WW PK3's to my RtCW main folder & add the shaders to shaderlist.txt? You can find me playing RtCW & Wolf as HairyPlums. I also go under the name of Le Tenebreux on various forums, and am an inactive member of =UDS= (=UDS= LeTene). My only "real" maps I have (sort of) created are "reversed" versions of various maps (KungFu Grip, Philly Experiment, Frostbite, Tundra, etc) for the Battlefield Europe ( http://www.battlefieldeurope.net - forums are down until 1st Jan 2004) so I am experienced also at PK3'ing up distro maps. Let me know! Tommy aka HairyPlums Penicuik, Scotland

Howdy Pardner, There are a few people who are doing mapping for WildWest right now. Hewster, Gringo Starr, and Capt. Queeg are handling most of the mapping duties right now. El Paolo is working on a map, and I am just starting on one, but I am a real noob at mapping, so it is slow going. I need all the help I can get...lol! There may be other people working on maps, but I am not aware of them. WildWest Version 1.5 was just released, and the release included 1 original map (Battle Creek), and 2 mods (Kung Fu Grip and Beach) to existing RTCW maps. Any experience you can add is appreciated and welcomed. Ignacio Ignacio@the-wildwest.com

Howdy, Most of my map layout is done right now, need to throw in some rocks, cacti and furniture. My biggest stop (and bottleneck) at the moment is the scripting, shaders and lightning. As most of the Wild West posse know right now, I recently bought a house and completely renoviting it at the moment (with the hands, not GTKRadiant, he he). I would really appreciate it if you could help me out there, either help me with the scripting/shading/lightning stuff or do it together. Anyway, I (freely saying on behalf of all of us) welcome to the Wild West posse and just gibe me a shout on ElPaolo@the-wildwest.com.

Indeed welcome furryplumb person :) As I promised in my PM, I have sent you a "pre-release" mappers pak for 1.5. Actually all mappers should be working from 1.5 now, so I'll upload this pre-release and send Gringo, Iggy, Queeg & el-paolo the link. Hewster

Do you swear we can use models and textures from their current directories? :)

Hrm, can't seem to edit that last post... I wanted to add that for Hacienda, there are a couple of odd references to terrain alphamaps (entities 205 & 397) that abort compile. I simply removed the alphamap/terrain/shader/layers keys and Robert's your fathers brother... I guess they were just "legacy" stuff, as we are only talking about 3 wee brushes in total here.
