hey everyone! how are ya all? i am new here so please go easy on me! i am a big fan of doom 3. however, my computer isn't all that powerful. i am running doom3 on the low resolution, and it is choppy sometimes. sometimes it will hang on a certian screen for up to a minute, then start playing like normal. i am tihnking of using this an excuses to upgrade to an athlon 64. my system specs are as follows AMD Athlon 1700+ 512 megs of DDR ram 40 gig WD hard drive, 5400 RPM ATI Radeon 9550 w/ 256 megs of ram windows XP pro, no service pack

any help would be greatly appriciated!

You should get the new AMD Athlon 64 you want, it will help out a lot. That card isn't half bad running D3 at high also *I Have it :)*. Just get a new Processor, maybe 512 mbs ram (if you can afford it) and you should be great.

Yes a new processor will do it. Then I recommend a AMD 64 (3000?). Videocard... I don´t know. It´s a bit outdated. IF you can effort it get a Radeon 9800PRO. Its 160 Euro´s in Holland here.
