Okay I decided to redo the Fort map from scratch but I've hit a snag before things have even got off the ground, so to speak. I've done my basic sky box and ground and I though it would be a good idea to try and run it from within WW but after i've compiled it and try to run it WW tells me it's not a valid WW map file. Whats going on here? Is there something i'm missing?

@ El Angel Eyes: You have to put the key wildwest with a value of 1 in your worldspawn. Just hit the N key in Radiant.

I'm having the same problem, I've done what you told angel-eyes and it still says not a valid wildwest map.

Did you re-compile? :) Don't have anything selected when you hit the N key in Radiant. Then add that key and value to the entity it brings up. If that doesn't work, make a copy of your map and rename it, then open it in notepad. Right at the top you'll see "classname" "worldspawn". Under that, put "wildwest" "1".

To add to that, the map is saved as a .MAP file in your maps directory. You can open the .MAP file with notepad, and it will look something like this:

// entity 0 { "wildwest" "1" "classname" "worldspawn" "model" "" // brush 0 { ( -35 100000 59 ) ( -95 100000 59 ) ( -95 99992 59 ) yuma/ma_wood03 -64 0 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

( -95 99992 85 ) ( -95 100000 85 ) ( -35 100000 85 ) yuma/ma_wood03 -64 0 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

( -95 99992 85 ) ( -35 99992 85 ) ( -35 99992 59 ) yuma/ma_wood03 -64 -17 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

( -35 99992 85 ) ( -35 100000 85 ) ( -35 100000 59 ) yuma/ma_wood03 0 -17 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

( -35 100000 85 ) ( -95 100000 85 ) ( -95 100000 59 ) yuma/ma_wood03 -64 -17 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

( -95 100000 85 ) ( -95 99992 85 ) ( -95 99992 59 ) yuma/ma_wood03 0 -17 0 0.500000 0.500000 0 0 0

} When you press the N key, it brings up this window, where you see the worldspawn entry. Ig

Thanks for your help guys. I've just come off playing on my little room I made. Nothing in it, just a big room with wooden planks for walls, but it's a start. It was a bit dark to start, but I figured out the lighting bit. If I can do that, I'm sure I can do more.:)

Yeeeehaaa, Welcome Rose to the mappers gilde. I still remember how lost I was when started mapping (and still am sometimes ;)) It's a steep learning curve but you'll get the hang of it. Looking mighty forward to your first creation.
