Hi fellas, ive installed Doom3 and am very upset by lack of FPS on what was till now a cool system for playing games on. Im talking about 2 - 3 FPS at the moment no matter how much i dumb down either the card or the in-game settings.

Really doing my head in.

Any help greatly appreciated.

2.8 Celeron 1GB PC 2700 128MB 9800 pro XP PRO

I tried the Beta Drivers from ATI seem to do nothing for me.

Seems to run like magic on a 9550 with most things on max, whats going on?

CELERON 2.8---THERE'S YOUR PROBLEM. GET A REAL PROCESSOR THEN TRY IT AGAIN.

Fairs fair guys a celeron may be a low end pentium but nevertheless, this system plays everything alse, Far Cry, you name it virtually maxed out with no problems.

An Athlon or P4 may perform better, but that doesnt detract from the fact that this crap celeron still manages 2.8 million calculations a second. And it's still more than capable of playing a game. Now if anybody has a realistic solution to my problem i'll gladly hear it, i feel it is an issue with the graphics card, and hope someone can provide help.

Thanx anyway guys.

1: doom is more processor dependant than other games (and your processor sucks balls) 2: doom has issues with SOME radeon 9800 cards

i would rip that celeron out and replace it with a p4 and board a 9800 pro will play doom 3 no problems on low, medium but i wouldnt try any higher u really should get a new mbo and processor even though it is 2.8 gig a slower p4 would be a lot faster as celerons are for office use and low demanding aps not games. If u cannot affored a p4 a athlon xp 2800 and mbo can be picked up for under £100 at a computer fair

Many thanx Snake, that helped a lot.

As well as that i also installed 3rd party soundcard drivers for my Audigy from http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?skip=1

They seem to help too.

Along with both those things i reinstalled my AGP drivers for my Mobo and it now runs at about 20 FPS, so thanks very much, not fantastic but very playable!!

Cheers mate i owe you one!!
