Hey, can someone give me a tip or something? I am in the level of Enpro Plant, that part when you must follow a bot, and it's so dark. There can merely see something in there. There's no light, even the flashlight can't work. In some parts you see just black screen, even if you turn around several times. Must I set something in options menu? It's something wrong? I don't think the level is set to be so dark.:bawl:Are the lights busted? Please tell me if someone has an idea.
AlphaLabs 3, Enpro, Delta 3, Hell and Phobos1 are very dark levels or at least have some parts that are very dark, you can use some mod that makes the flashlight have more radius or that puts mounted flashlights like in Quake 4 to some or all weapons, i recommend playing the latest Close Combat Weapons & Sound mod from Ice_Trey D3 developer here...:

Thanx but I think it's an error somewhere in the game system. Even with flashlight, I can't see anything in some areas. The screen goes black as night. I'll try figure how to make it work properly.
You could always increase brightnes in ingame menu or on your screen. I played few games like that when I was too afraid;).
Maybe you have your settings wrong, remove the doomconfig.cfg and autoexec.cfg (if any) in the base and d3xp (if you have ROE also) and start Doom 3, after this change your settings to your taste.
This commands for use in the console can help also...:
r_brightness "from 1 to 2" - def. 1
r_gamma "from 1 to 2" - def. 1
r_lightScale "from 1 to 4" - def. 2
Better change only the brightness if you can, and let the others stay as default.
hehe thanks Dafama, for recommending my mod ! :-) Amongst other things, it includes a "Headlight On-Off toggler" which could be very handy for dark places, such as Enpro (isnt Monorail the darkest map ever tho?) and other maps which are dark (which is pretty much every map in doom ^^), with just a click on a designated key, you have access to flashlight regardless what weapon you have up (incl fists etc) =) one thing you could try is adding this to your autoexec - bind "F7" "modulateLights 1.1 1.1 1.1" bind "F6" "modulateLights 0.9 0.9 0.9" With F7 (or whatever key you choose) you can now increases the general lights a little, it will be reset when you quit the map tho, so have that in mind, and with F6 you can dim the lights if needed :) It was Dafama that gave me this code, so Kudos to you m8! :beer:
I realised what's the problem. The fact is that a light, a neon, something that shines can be seen form distance, but if you came closer to it, you can't see it anymore, as if the light dissapears. It's true odd. The game worked well before. This strange thing starts when I leave the entering room (that with the health monitor). On the following room, the lights go odd.
I've had it happen too, where it stops illuminating the room, but the beams are still coming out. Weird glitch.
There is a mod out there in DOOM 3 land, called AMBIENTLIGHT d3 by GunRunner....Its been out there for some time now...it solved all my lighting problems....problem is I not only see the monsters....they see me too....LOL
