i use a 9800 pro 128mb. decent performance, but could use double the RAM to eliminate hitching (large textures in doom 3)

which card u should get depends on what u mean by "good budget". how much can u spend? let us know and we can probably give u a few good suggestions. my personal favourite is the geforce 6800 GT. not exactly cheap, but it dishes out fantastic performance, and comes close to the Ultra version - which isnt worth the extra money unless u have too much cash. the GT is a great choice

otherwise, a vanilla 6800 should do the trick, or one from the newer budget line, the 6600 GT.

my personal opinion is to get a card with 256mb RAM. gone are the days when such amount of RAM was unnecessary... with games like doom 3, extra memory will definitely help.

I've got a Geforce 6800 myself, with 1 gig of RAM, and I can run games like Half Life 2 smoothly with everything maxed out. I'd suggest getting just a pretty good card, then getting lots of RAM, it helps out alot.

Ah cool for the feed back. Yeh im In the UK So its extremely expensive for pretty much anything :( At the moment Im using A geforce 4 Ti 4200.

I was thinking of getting the 6800 but its way out of my range but apparently with that card DooM 3 Looks more like a movie than a game? And does anyone know about The new Geforce FX5900 ZT? What would you say those Radeon 9800 Pros are like?

Oh (Edit) Lab rat, what about your 9600XT? I was thinking of getting one, what card have you got As in is it a Microstar, or Novatech etc? And does anyone know about The new Geforce FX5900 ZT? Cheers all

With the games nowadays being a bit troublesome in the graphics card department. It would be good to get a list of cards that work perfectly with this game (tried and tested by you). Just post back the specs that work, graphics card specificly (with make). prices not required. ;)
