It may be something simple to most of you, but, I have just set up my sons computer with doom 3 AND tried to create a server on my own. My son can find imy server on his pc but when he tries to connect, it says that there are missing files and server is not set up to share files. Is there a setting to allow both computers to swap files so it can join my server?? Hope someone can help... Please?

First make sure you both have the same Patch, make sure ur both 1.3 or 1.0

Second, make sure both ur games have the same mods if only one has a mod and the other doesnt..

Third... make sure you set your LAN correctly... turn off Firewall... etc..

If you find out more info, put it here... so maybe i can further inspect your problem

not too sure about lans?? we both can connect to the internet, myself on a wired lan connected to my router. My son can also connect to the internet, but he's on wireless through the router. When we run doom and set server to lan rather than internet, the created server shows up in the list of servers on my sons pc and vice versa. We both have doom 1.3 patch installed and resurection of evil. I have copied the emz file in my pc and pasted into sons doom 3 folder. Also done this with the cdoom folder(classic doom mod). Any ideas:confused::greenflame:

Are you using any type of firewall program? And this is a longshot but I take it you use the same CDKEY for both games, if so that might be your problem as id software decided to make DooM 3 connect to a server to check the cd key and if it is in use.

Well for a LAN game it should not be checking CD key, because its your own personal area network, not internet play...

So, its not CD key if is set for LAN, Firewall may be something you should be checking out... Also, if you guys can get ahold of an Cat 5 Crosslink cable, just connect it from your ethernet card to your sons... and it should automatically set your systems for LAN, if you have windows XP of course..

If it wont allow you because one server has files the other doesnt... that may be an issue..

I suggest u copy Everything that isnt in one doom 3 folder to the other.. except the config fiels of course..
