Please list ur system specs, the problem, and maybe the solution in this thread. Or u can say what resolution and setting u're playing it in. If we keep all the information organized into one thread, we can see whether ID has REALLY optimized the game for everyone or not. That will also help me decide whether my system's compatible for the game.

I have a 2.6 Celeron (yuck) 512 ram 9800 pro 128mb

The game wasnt running very well, even at the auto settings the game chose. It was choppy, lacked FPS and I was frustrated becuase I should be running it better.

I tried that config tweak, (cacheMeg, cacheMink, ) thingy and it helped alot. I can play at 800x600 with medium settings and it runs smooth, but then when the fireworks start going crazy I see the fps dropping and starts to get choppy. Im thinking I need more ram and a better processor and that would help. But this game was initally made for Nvidia cards. Im waiting till ATI comes out with their final Cat. 4.9 driver. But its wierd, some ppeople with similiar systems as mine get outstanding results while some dont. Its a toss up.

ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Barton 2800+ 1GB PC3200 GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB 8X AGP Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache Bought Doom 3 this morning and can't even get past the main menu screen. The intro video is very, very choppy. Once the main menu screen appears the game just about freezes. Any movement on the mouse takes at least 15 seconds to register on the screen. Literally took me 10 minutes just to get into the window to change video settings. I've tried the cache tweak but it did not help.

Thats probably due to your graphics card. Ti4200 is crap IMO. I'm running a: Pentium 4 2.5ghtz PC 3200 512mb DDR Ram ATI Radeon 9600 XT It runs great for awhile, but randomly locks up my system. Have no idea why, as it's not overheating.

Come to find out it was a driver problem. I reverted back to an old set and things work fine now. My "crap" Ti4200 is actually running the game at 1024x768 on high quality at around 20fps. Dosen't sound like much but its very smooth with no lockups or choppyness.

Probably due to the drivers your using. Don't get the ATI drivers, as they won't help matters any. Get the Omega drivers down at http://www.omegadrivers.net/ After I downloaded and installed the omega drivers, I haven't had a single problem with the game. I played for a solid 4 hours with no problems what so ever. Before, I would freeze up randomly...sometimes 5 seconds into the game, sometime an hour. But I'd never really get passed an hour. Check that out, and it should fix it. Also, doing the config file tweak wouldn't hurt either. Head on over to http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoom/topic.asp?fid=5733&tid=1438663 for that. Well...thats the best I can do. Thats what I did, and everything works fine now. *shrugs* Good luck.
