xp P4 2.6 512 ram geforce fx5600 128mb
I've got an alienware laptop, 3.0ghz p4, 512 mb of ram, geforce Fx go5600...I get 20ish frames per second, down to 10 on fights...Makes it almost unplayable...I thought the card was a ge4 dirivative and would work well, apparently not...Or is it just a problem with my configuration?
Heres my ordeal...
AMD Athalon XP 2400+ 512 DDR ram (soon to be 1 gig) Fresh 7200rpm 80gig Seagate GeForce FX 5500 256 mb
First the game game itself takes a very long time to load... At 640x480 on lowest settings with all effects turned off, i get around 17 fps and some very choppy play. I tryed the cache tweak and I keep getting crashes and no increase in performance..... From what I've seen in the Forums my setup should be doing better even without the tweak.
P4 2.53GHz ati radeon 9700 pro-tried both 4.8 and 4.9 drivers 512 MB The game will boot up fine, but once I start playing the game will randomly crash within 5 minutes. I've gone through 4 of the same graphics card (all 9700's) thinking that the problem was the graphics card, but I don't see why it should be. I've been told that it's a driver problem but I have all the latest drivers that I could possible have. Maybe I need a new motherboard...I have an MSI 648 max. I don't know what the problem could be. Any help would be appriciated.
ok This is what you do. Move the .pk4 files from Doom3/base. Then download Winrar and uncompress the files into the Doom3/base folder. Then run the game. You SHOULD see a differnance. If something doesn't work make sure you uncompressed ALL the files. This should fix some peoples problems.
I'm running a athlon 2600+ 512mb ddr ram ati 9200 128mb catalyst 4.8 WD80gb 7200 hd 8mb cache Doom3 runs smooth for undetermined duration and then I am locked in place. Still in game but can't move and the only way out is a hard reboot. This is very frustrating as I upgraded so that I could play this game. The omegadrivers site that your link leads to always times out. I'd like to try those drivers though. Is there an alternate site?:uhoh:
I'm replying to my own message to say that I discovered that my problem was my keyboard. For some reason it would stop working during Doom3 so I replaced it and am having no problems except getting into the hydration station. Go figure.
LaserCobra, How did you get the game to run off your second hard drive? I'm tired of having to stick the CD in there every time I want to play. Very annoying.
My setup is similar to yours: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe P4 3.0GHz 1GB Kingston HyperX PC3200 ATi 9600 Dual 250GB Hitachi SATA RAID-0 Setup (looks like one massive 500GB drive)
LaserCobraYou asked for it: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe P4 2.4CGHz @ 3.13GHz 1GB Kingston HyperX PC3200 ATi 9800 Pro @ 398/344 (catalyst v4.7) Wester Digital Raptor SATA hard drive I'm playing from an image on another western digital so DVD-RW not used *cough* SB live value *cough* Thermaltake 560w psu Water cooling system: RBX cpu water block Maze4 gpu water block Criticool water plant Hydor L35 water pump D-Tek heater core 2 x 120mm fans in push - pull configuration I think my issues are due to the sound card I have but I nothing to test against other then onboard sound, which is no better. I can have it set to 1024 x 768 with AA off and everything else HIGH and there is no lag playing. BUT get online and I've got to turn off shadows or it lags. I'm disappointed that my system is pretty good and I can't get all the candy. I'm starting to consider getting a 9800XT...
Athlon 64 3200+ ATI Radeon X800 Pro Asus K8V Deluxe mobo SB Audigy 2 1GB Kingston HyperX Win XP Pro My games is sooo laggy when I turn the settings up to high and add in 2xAA. It gets so laggy in the hell area that I almost can't see where I'm going. I turn on the framerate counter and am getting about 12 fps. Don't ask, because I have done many driver changes and tweaks to try to solve this problem. I can play the game on medium settings at 800x600 or lower, but a $400 card should be better. I don't think I have a bad card because it plays other games such as Far Cry on 1600x1200 without any lag whatsoever, plus i get over 5k on 3dMark05.
