I don't know who did this map. I don't think it is one of the free ones like beach.... Anyone know off the top of their head?

It came with the game, and the source map isn't available as far as I know. It could technically be turned into a map file, but it doesn't answer the question of whether we could use it. As far as making it western, anything is possible (not eluding to my work on beach or anything) :)

I rather like the idea of changing the the sub map for the WildWest. There's no reason the submarine can't stay. The first gasoline sub was made in what...1805? Something like that. There were a couple built for the war of 1812 that would hold a crew of a dozen people. Now, they were built on Long Island (I think) but we can bend history a bit and put a hidden lagoon with a huge cave near Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. After all our time period is 60-70 years later and many advances would have taken place. Heck, as far as I know Houston could have had a hidden submarine building facilty. It would not surpise me at all, now that I think about it.

Here's some good info: http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blsubmarine7.htm This sub is dated 1898: holland1.jpg And there is this one hunley.jpg "In 1864, armed with a 90-pound charge of powder on a long pole, Hunley attacked and sank a new Federal steam sloop, USS Housatonic, at the entrance to Charleston Harbor." correct but thats 1860s not the 1820's and also note nothing's underground (which the entire sub map is) It's not imposible to make a ww version of this map but it would be a much tougher challange than beach was, and that was tough in my mind.

We ARE trying to recreate the 1860's. This is just my opinion, but I think we have enough converted maps in the line up.

Speaking of ships, we still need to come up with an idea of a paddlewheeler for a certain prison map. Ig

That's probably true enough...we do NOT want to tip the scale. I still think his idea is a good one but perhaps one that should wait.

it is what I think too. If it is easier to convert a map than create one (I really don't know), then that does not pose any problem for me absolutely (after all, for the wages which one gives to the programmer, one moreover will not be demanding). But with equal difficulty, I like as much to exploit a new map that on one which I will have played hundreds of times.

Actually, if my hint about other skin packs for the retail version get incorporated then I could see a Union attacking the Confederate port to blow up the Henery Submarine. Now a paddle boat... What are we looking for, the lowly barge paddlewheeler or the full 3-4 storry palaces. Also will it need to move or be a 'fixed location' on the map? Let me know (in a new thread please labled paddlewheeler or prison map) and I can start researching the possibities.
