xextremexHello. I just bought the game yesterday and after spending hours and hours, finally have the patches needed for the cheats. How do you get them to work in Campaign Mode? That's what I really need them for..
The "Easy" AI is a cheat itself ^.^
I'm stuck on one of the last missions because the resources are so low.
For Winter Assault or Standard Dawn Of War?
Standard. It's the mission against the Eldars and Orks when the Eldars have some kind of important building. I try to capture the Strategic Points, but the ones east and west have huge enemies guarding them (I think one was the Avatar). And they easily killed my 12 guys and Commander. Then they attacked my base which has no defense at all. The only buildings I have are the Stronghold and Chappel Barracks. I'm out of requisition very quickly. And there's no time to wait because they attack immediately.
oh i can help you on that one. at your base there should be 2 resource points and a slag heap there should also be a 3rd resouce piont by the orks. fully arm the imperial gaurd with plasma or granade launcher and they should hold the orks off for most of the game unless it on a hard setting. concentate on seting a sold base defence. once your defence is set go web gate hunting if a gate is destroyed the eldar can't renforce.
(Ok a medium-long version of what I did - and it won it for me in one game, but I did take a long time going one bit of map at a time - and that time gains you extra resources.) I found what worked for me was taking two squads of Guardsmen upto the Two Bomb craters at the road where the Orks come from - then putting 1 Leman Russ infront of each crater and a third one in the middle. That way the Orks target the tanks first, and the Guardsmen get a defense bonus from the crater. The remaining Guardsmen, and the Imperial Colonel I put next to the StratPoint just behind that and put the last Leman Russ there - there's some more Bomb Craters to use - these guys will defend you from several Eldar Ambushes... I didn't know that when I put them there though. Make sure you give Weapon Upgrades to the Guardsmen, and keep checking every so often if they need to be reinforced (each squad can have 15 men + the Colonel in one of them if you wish) - I mostly went with Grenade Launchers, but that's a choice thing - and keep a servitor around to build a few Bolter turrets, repair your turrets, Listening Posts and repair the Leman Russ tanks.
As for the rest of the map - be patient and take the Eldar down one base at a time - use your Scouts and thier infiltrate ability to check up ahead and then plan your attack based on that. Remember to use Listening Posts to increase Requisition from Start Points, and also rememeber to upgrade the listening posts - the upgrade both counts as a defense weapon and increases Req points. Final advice is that in combat, remembering to set "Reinforce Squad" on overwatch (right click the reinforce button) when in the middle of a battle can really help out a lot - buying one man every so often is cheaper than losing the squad and having to buy a new squad, reinforcing the new one upto 8 marines, buying a Sergeant and restocking all your heavy weapons again - and remember the Sergeant's Rally ability, if you hear "Unit Broken" Rally them with the SGT's ability - broken troops don't deal any real damage to the enemy and they die really quickly.
I Didn't see an Avatar in that level, I only saw it in the city one where the Eldar sacrifices himself in the cutscene and killing it becomes an objective.
As for being near the end of the game, not yet... you still have the Eldar for a little while longer, then you get to play with Chaos! (come on, tell me you didn't see that coming, why else would Chaos keep showing up in cutscenes)
Thanks so much for your help! I'll try that. Thank you. I thought the game was almost over because everyone complains it's too short. Chaos is the greatest :D
