right making my first really effort at a map and well all the units can just go right through the walls of the bases etc and well that has made putting them in redundant and allows orcs to swarm in the biggest waves ever cos they dont have to go around anything?
another question, is there a way of making a section of something then just cloning it (in a sense) to be used elsewhere on the map cos the kind im making would go so much faster if i didnt have to remake everything eg: the walls mentioned above
Select them and do copy/paste BUTTONS (Ctrl C/Ctrl V don't work). The only way I can think of
Yep just Use the, icannot remember wich button, and paint impassable terrain in the walls, easy.
copy + paste works fine for me using ctrl c/v And yes, use the Impass editor for making things impassable (and too make impassable things passable ;) - great to see a tide of orks scaling a wall)
It's the Impass Editot. It looks like a traffice light

im sorry not all of us are more like you with your ages worth of knowledge, i was not aware of having to do such a thing im new to map making, i merely thought that since walls are meant to be solid such a tool wouldnt be needed and that something else was the problem -thanks boys a suppose we can close this "pointless" thread

ah shut ya gob, its on any tutorial. maybe its not like this for other games but it the answer is on every faq and tutorial.
DoW is not like most games - The models themselves do not have what is called 'collision', where the game detects when something is impacting it and says 'Hey, you can't go through walls.' Instead, it saves on memory, filespace, loadtime, and all that (And makes the game faster) by making no models have collision, and just having the ground impassable. This not only makes the game faster, it makes it much simpler for people to make maps for - and is less confusing in-game. Say you want someone to go up a flight of stairs, and you click on the stairs - The computer might not register you clicking the stairs and register you clicking the ground. The only problem with this is that people can shoot through walls.
The Impass edit is the traffic light.
